On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we reflect on the powerful words of Coretta Scott King, who graced Atlanta Pride in 1996 with her inspiring presence. Today, we share a special video capturing her wisdom and the timeless message of unity and equality. As we honor Dr. King's legacy, Atlanta Pride remains committed to fostering unity within our diverse community. Our work is driven by the belief that every voice deserves to be heard, every story deserves to be told, and every individual deserves to be celebrated.

On this Transgender Day of Remembrance, we speak the names of all of our siblings who have been lost to acts of anti-transgender violence. We mourn the immeasurable loss of lives in 2023, both nationally and locally. We are joined by 2023 Grand Marshal Aubri Escalera and Trans Power in Diversity in calling to end this violence. Visibility is crucial as the trans community continues to face discrimination and violence. This year alone, we have mourned the loss of at least 25 transgender and gender non-conforming people, including several losses here in Georgia. 88% of those lost were people of color, and 52% were black transgender women. As we head into a critical election year, we must demand better. While remembering those no longer with us, we also recognize our community’s resilience. Today, we celebrate trans lives, past, present and future. We encourage you to show up for our transgender community not only in death but also in life. Resilience is more powerful than remembrance. #TDOR #TransDayofRemembrance2023 #TDORAtlanta2023 #AtlantaPride #TransDayofResilience #ShowUpandShowOut #TransPowerInDiversity
