On September 30, 2024, Judge Robert McBurney declared Georgia’s LIFE Act unconstitutional. In Judge McBurney’s final order, he affirmed that the government is not to intervene with a woman’s healthcare choice until the fetus reaches viability. This means that, without appeal, abortion would be allowed up to 22 weeks based on this arbitrary judgment of when life begins. This very ruling is why we continue to fight for a Personhood Amendment in the Georgia Constitution.

Amber Thurman: The Deadly Reality of Abortion Pills: While we were saddened to learn of Amber Thurman’s death, Georgia Right to Life does not want a single woman to go through horrific trauma or for there to be even one death related to an abortion.

“Mifepristone and Misoprostol are downright dangerous for mothers to ingest and most certainly deadly for the baby. Amber Thurman ingested both pills, resulting in the deaths of her twin babies, but suffered severe complications since the deceased bodies of her twin babies did not fully expel from her body.

Amber Thurman, like many women that have taken these pills, was rushed to the emergency room. What occurred in the hospital was a horrific case of medical malpractice caused by unfounded claims of paranoia. According to reports, a Dilation and Curettage procedure to remove the deceased bodies of Amber’s twin babies was not performed.

Because of the doctors’ inactions, Amber Thurman quickly developed sepsis and passed away. In the matter of days, a mother and her twin babies lost their lives because of abortion. Make no mistake, the deadly act of abortion is what caused the deaths of Amber Thurman and her twin children.”
