The year is 1894 and Wall Street stockbroker, Lemuel Benedict was wandering around the searching for a dish to cure his morning hangover. He ordered, ‘buttered toast, poached eggs, crisp bacon, and hollandaise sauce.’ And Voilà this iconic dish was born! Head Chef Oscar Tschirky was astonished with this mix and added the recipe to numerous menus.
