We would like to congratulate Carlee Barksdale, Vanessa Roden, and Kylee Roden for being named to the Class 4A Area 11 All Tournament Team. For the third year in a row we have secured our spot in the state tournament field of 32. Excited for the opportunity and ready to get back to work!

What a gritty group of kids! This picture says a lot to me, you may not can make everyone out but this is our team watching the other area semifinal game after we won our game. They refuse to quit and have EARNED the right to play for the Area Championship! Thank you to all the parents sitting with your kids and supporting them and our program! We ask a lot out of our kids but I truly believe you can learn how to outwork everyone around you. The game of basketball has changed a lot over the years but you can still count on defense winning championships!

We would like to take a minute to congratulate 3 of our seniors on finishing their high school career in the top 10% of their graduating class. Riley, Jaleigh, and LA we couldn’t be more proud of you! Athletics and athletic achievements are important but there is nothing more important than a students academics (they are called student athletes for a reason). These three ladies truly exemplify what it means to be a student athlete and are great representatives of our program!

02/19/2023

We are in our last week of our strawberry sale. The money raised will be used to help us continue to improve our girls basketball program! See any girls basketball player or contact Coach McCoy at 256-490-9137. Thank you for your support of our program!

Well this is not the post that I envisioned myself making this summer. From the time we began our summer program it was our goal to win an area championship. Unfortunately, sometimes you don’t reach every goal you set. It is my hope that this makes all of our underclassmen work harder during the off-season to reach that goal next year.
Just because we didn’t reach our main goal doesn’t mean this season wasn’t a success. We saw some new records set, (we are tied for second all time in Alabama history for 3 point percentage in a game, 51.7 % . We added a new player to the 1,000 point club (Congratulations Jaleigh!). We made the sub regional round of the state tournament back to back years. I couldn’t be more proud of a group of kids than I am of this team! They worked as hard as they ever have and because of that hard work we were able to improve as a team and as individuals.
I am not sure that people understand what a GRIND basketball season is, summer workouts and play dates, 4th block workouts, film after workouts, 2 hour practices, practice and games 5 and sometimes 6 days a week, holiday (Thanksgiving and Christmas) tournaments and practice. It takes a special kind of young person to commit their self to being there every day because they know they want to do everything in their power to not let their teammates down! I am lucky that our team is full of those kind of kids!
I want to say thank you to my players for all of their hard work and dedication to our program! Without them and their buy in to a vision of hard work will always give us a chance, we wouldn’t be anywhere close to turning this program around (we have became a FAMILY).
I would like to thank my wife Lacqusta, and kids (Jackson and Harper) for always supporting me! I am not the easiest person to be married to on a good day. During basketball season I am pretty much unbearable and Lacqusta handles every situation like the rock star she is! Jackson and Harper are becoming gym rats and can always make me smile even when I can’t find much to smile about!
I want to thank my coaches (Katie Baker, Morgan Bogle, Britney Palmore, Chris Devine and Kevin Horton). Without them nothing we have done would be possible. One of the things I give myself credit for in what we have done with this program is putting good coaches, and even better people around our young ladies!
I want to thank each and every parent that has a player in our program. You have allowed your daughters to be coached hard and pushed to not only be better players, but most importantly to be better students and better people! It is my hope that we are partnering with you to mold these ladies into responsible, hard working adults.
Lastly, I want to thank this years seniors (LA, Jaleigh, Riley and Damilah). This post has been extremely too long and I could type another book talking about these four young ladies. To sum it up as quickly as possible, these four young ladies are full of GRIT and determination and absolutely REFUSED to quit even when it would have been a whole lot easier on them (I would like to take a little credit for that GRIT but I am pretty sure that was given to them by God and great parents). Ladies, we break it down to FAMILY every day and now you will forever be a part of my family, if you ever need me all you have to do is call me! THANK YOU!!
I know there are hundreds of people that I have not thanked! If you came and cheered us on, helped in the concession stand, took up tickets, taped an ankle (DJ), drove a bus, or just said a prayer for us THANK YOU!! There simply aren’t enough words or enough time to thank everyone properly! Without all of these unmentioned people basketball season wouldn’t be possible!
As always … GO BIG BLUE!
- Ryan
