If you don't have time to do it right... when will you have time to do it over?

2023 was quite a year for us @ Detail Finishers. I'm humbled by where Brian and I are in our partnership and business which is stronger than ever.

The projects we were blessed to be a part of in 2023 included converting an attic space to a usable bedroom, converting a bathroom built in area to a place suitable to house an in home sauna, the 6 day bathroom reno challenge, as well as framing a 5400 sq ft. metal home.

Right before Christmas a customer called asking for a special request... Brian (always being up for a new challenge) helped our long time customer stack 4 -65 inch tvs together. Using a connection box he spliced all the TV pictures together making 1 huge viewing area for their media room. The customer was thrilled!

Toward the end of 2023 we partnered with the exterior lighting manufacturing company called Oelo. Installing permanent exterior lights on residential homes is something many of our customers are looking to add. By becoming authorized dealers with Oelo we're able to add this service. We installed our first 2 story home right before Christmas with success!

We enjoy large projects...but because we care about the small stuff we continue to offer our customers home repair services (like dry wall repairs), maintenance visits, as well as a long list of other service style and install requests. Our company completes repair work and Install services way more often then the larger projects.

Here in the DFW area so many businesses are commercialized and impersonal. While they focus on volume we focus on customer care. Our customers say they're so glad to have a peronalized home repair company to call on and we've stayed small in size because we enjoy representing quality over quantity.

We are honored and blessed that you call us back, tell your friends and neighbors about us, and trust us with your home improvement needs. 2023 was a blessed year for us at Detail Finishers and we know it's you, our customers, that we can thank for it!

MATCHING PAINT FOR TOUCH UPS- QUICK GUIDE
The first line of defense WHEN TOUCHING UP PAINT is to use the original paint from the can that was originally used. Say you bought a home 4 years ago and need to touch up paint today. Using the same paint used from 4 years ago is TRULY the only way to get the closest match.

WHAT IF THE PAINT IS DRIED UP?
If the original paint has dried, or there is only a small amount left, take that last bit or dried sample of paint to the original paint company to match the color, in the same paint formula, and sheen. (sheens are flat, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss)

WHAT IF I THREW THE CAN AWAY?
If you threw away the can there's still a way to get a close match by using the wall itself. Remove a piece of wall from a spot on the wall itself (somewhere unnoticeable and clean). Take that to the original paint company and have them do a color match. If you can remember the name of the paint company, formula, and sheen used, great!

WHY DOES PAINT FORMULA MATTER?
An $80 paint formula will be much different from a lower grade $28 version of paint. Even if you mix these 2 formulas in the same color, from the same paint maker, in the same sheen, the paint will not appear like a match.

AN OLD TRICK
Say the repair was in the middle of the wall and you matched the paint but its a noticeably different being in the spot its in. You can paint that 1 wall from edge to edge using the new paint. A slight variation on color will stick out like a sore thumb in the middle of a wall, but may be less noticeable if the entire wall is repainted . By painting that 1 wall from edge to edge you'll subdue the color variation without having to repaint the entire room.

WRAPPING IT UP
There are many options to try when touching up paint on an older wall area, but ultimately if your tries come up short or you can't live with a paint color variation, it may be time to consider repainting.

Attic conversions add square foot living space for adding an additional bedroom, an office, or a media/game room. This home owner added a bedroom. Increasing square feet also increases home value. In most cases the home owner ends up coming out ahead of their cost to build vs. equitable value in the DFW area.

This sauna unit was installed in a master bath. Using the area originally holding built in cabinets (which were removed). By using some closet space, we opened up an area suitable to house the sauna unit.

This customer wanted a barn door in replace of a double door....But also wanted the clean lines look. By removing the door and casing, adding a frame edge and sheet rock finish we addressed the request and it turned out beautifully!

This home owner asked us to create the look on the wall behind the baby crib in the magazine picture. Trim was used to give the wall debth, then the trim and wall were painted the same color.

This home owner wanted her office to have built ins similar to the design picture she sent, (shown in the last picture).

Along with repairs, installs, and home maintenance our company completes unique design style projects...this homeowner wanted a fireplace with a similar look as in the picture he sent... modified with marbel tile and a mantel that matched his wood floor.
