Back to school already? 🚌 Before things get super busy, now's the perfect time for a quick check-up! We tackle any little issues before they become big ones. We can check older fillings and see if any new fillings are needed. And if everything's great, even better—more reason to flash a smile!

We love seeing our name in lights! ⭐️

We love this photo - it captures our personality and how we make dental visits fun. We want to create a buddy system with young patients and their parents to build lifelong dental habits, starting even before they turn one. We hope to reduce anxious feelings about going to the dentist.

06/28/2024

We promise the dentist can be fun 😆 Plus, starting a dental care routine now sets you up for a lifetime of healthy, bright smiles!

Have you seen one of these tiny turtles?

The mascot of the Augusta Canal 🐢 When they're little, they break through really tough eggshells. That's why they're born with an "egg tooth" that helps them out. This tooth falls off after they hatch. Sometimes, just like the egg tooth, little and young adult patients might have a tooth that needs to come out because it's causing problems. But don't worry, this is always the last resort!

What's your favorite animal? 💙

05/18/2024

They grow up so fast 🥺

Summer break is on the horizon 👉 it's time to gear up for some fun! But let's also keep those smiles shining. Our top tip for summer smiles? Always dental sealants! They are see-through, BPA-free, and are a protective shield. So your little ones (or even young adults) can enjoy every moment of their summer and have some help preventing cavities.

Honoring every child 🌟

Our team is committed to understanding the needs of each patient so they feel comfortable during their visit. Dr. Obebe has created a kid-friendly atmosphere within our clinic by realizing that a dental visit can be overwhelming. So, we work hard to create an environment where they can feel at ease, whether making sensory-friendly changes, creating a calmer space, or making things more interactive.

We want every child to receive the dental care they deserve!

Is it the home stretch for spring sports? Even if it is, there still might be off-season practices or preparing for summer sports camps. But remember the game plan for your sports stars' smile! Mouthguards help to prevent dental injuries. Feel free to reach out for recommendations for sports mouthguards. Also, don't wait to address dental issues. Taking care of it soon can prevent future pain and ensure your athlete's smile stays healthy.

“Dr. Obobe & his staff are phenomenal! They make my children feel safe & comfortable every visit!” - Zara Jones.

We are sharing your thoughts on our fantastic office managers, dental assistants, hygienists, and head dentist, Dr. Akindeko Obebe! Whether a regular check-up or dealing with something that might make our little patients a bit nervous (like a cavity), we work to make things fun and comfortable. Our mission? To make sure our patients want to come back for their next visit!

A massive thank you to the Augusta Children’s Dental Center family for being a big part of making this happen!

Did you know that over 45% of children experience tooth decay by age 19? (AAP) We're on a mission to help stop tooth decay from the start, using one of our favorite superheroes in this fight, dental sealants. It's a shield against bacteria, and it's quick and easy!

Our tip for 2024? Remember to floss- it shields food bits away, so they can't cause cavities or make your gums sick.

✨Fall Reminder...🍂

October marks the start of cold and flu season. While your little one might not get the same bug twice from their toothbrush, it's important to remember that toothbrushes can be hiding places for bacteria. If these brushes linger beyond their welcome, they might invite unwanted bugs or increase the chances of passing them on to others. So, keep their toothbrush fresh!

10/13/2023

This month, we're celebrating World Smile Day! 😄 Tooth fillings and crowns are the magical solution for restoring your child's smile and confidence. We put in all the effort so that fillings and crowns blend perfectly with the rest of their teeth. That way, not only do they get a strong smile, but it stays natural, and their smile will shine brilliantly.

Did you know there's a fish with a back-to-school season? Like students, Sheepshead fish sometimes form groups or schools during the year. But what's surprising is that their teeth are oddly similar to ours, flat and rectangular, and used for nibbling and munching. They even have to wait to grow up a little for all their teeth to grow.

Regular dentist visits at a young age help to build good dental habits and prevent decay as your child's smile changes.

Are you getting ready for a camping or road trip? When you're on vacation, maintaining a solid oral routine can be challenging due to limited resources like water and electricity. That's why we recommend scheduling a fluoride treatment.

While enjoying delicious camping snacks, some might be extra sticky and starchy, leading to plaque build-up. A fluoride treatment acts as a protective shield against decay and cavities.

Combine this treatment with a regular dental routine for a healthy smile. Schedule an appointment: https://augustakidsdentist.com/contact-us/

Dive into a live-action "Animal Friday" summer field trip! 🐋🐠
We’re keeping this Animal Friday a little more “local” and are encouraging you to add a day trip to this aquarium to your summer activities!

The Georgia Aquarium is the only aquarium in the United States where you can find whale sharks. Their mouth is almost as big as you and me, but their throat is barely the size of a coin. Their "teeth" are also different than ours. Instead, they have filters/gill rakers covering their mouth. It's a bit like how our teeth and gums trap food particles. But, unlike us, whale sharks use their filters/gill rakers to catch food on purpose. Then unwanted particles are filtered out. Just like regular brushing and flossing, remove unwanted food and bacteria in our mouth.

School's out! Get ready for a summer of dental tips inspired by the season!

Our first tip? As you gear up to embark on trips and fun outdoor adventures, don't forget to add your child's bi-yearly dental check-up to your to-do list. After a busy school year, it's the perfect time to review any changes. Plus, by planning a check-up before hitting the road, you can prevent any "unexpected" dental discomfort or emergencies that might disrupt your plans.

Based on fossils, triceratops' horns seem to have had a keratin sheath that helped them to grow stronger throughout their lives. The strength of these horns was able to protect them. Dental sealants can act similarly to the sheath thought to have shielded the triceratops horns by giving extra protection to growing teeth. While children learn to clean their smiles, they may miss some spots when brushing/flossing. Because their enamel isn’t as strong at a young age, dental sealants can help to protect against cavities and severe tooth decay.

Animal Friday: Birds and their beaks!

Did you know that birds don’t have any teeth? Hawks, eagles, and macaws use their hooked beaks to tear things so they can digest them in smaller quantities, and fish-eating birds have serrated beak edges to grip their food better. These beaks are like our incisors that help us bite and cut our food. Because these teeth are at the front of our mouths, they could chip, and enamel could wear down if they're not taken care of.
