Last night was another first!
First time I attended an artists reception as the artist.

There were a lot of curious questions about why I was there and what I hoped to gain from the experience. The simple answer is that I’m there because it brings me joy. I’ll get down to the business of being an artist soon, but for now, I am grateful for a vehicle to communicate.

Time to get the girl!

24 hrs in London started off okay with a very easy flight + yay upgrade to Premium with my own row from United Airlines.

Then checked in and immediately checked out of a fairly nasty hotel.

I will now spend the next three hours sitting in a French cafe sharing some lavender bushes with a few plump bumble bees.

And eating and slowly eating (and day champagne- ing) while I wait for check in at my new hotel.
Two more hours and I’ll be ready for bed.

It’s easy to forget there are other ways to live.

Across the sea, people get up later, have coffee and tea, and read the paper with their neighbors at the local cafe before work. Food is clean, kids and dogs are welcome at every bar, and toast is always available. You walk everywhere.
Gardens and flower patches are accessible by all..
Don’t use your phone in cafes and restaurants.
Nothing is open on Sunday afternoon.

I was born in Madrid and lived in Greece, Italy, and briefly in Germany. How did I forget how to live?

I haven’t watched TV or seen a movie in forever, but I still read and read. I loved the book Daisy Jones & the Six and watched the series tonight like I was watching a car crash. I didn’t like what was happening, but couldn’t stop watching.
I mean, Finnic Odair is in it, and lots of other cuties, and Afros, lace overlays, fringe, and a lot of my other favorite things. Addicted and conflicted.
I also watched Last Night in SoHo. It was sold as a fashion movie, but stabbery ruined the clothes and what the hell happened at the end? Is the lead a crazy serial killer or does she see with a 3rd eye? I have no idea.
And I’m not good at TV anymore…

7.7.07 We thought it would be auspicious to get married on this day. It was Chinese Valentine’s Day.

There are always fireworks and parties July 4th weekend.

We had a traditional wedding which was large. I asked if we could do something small and Private on our Honeymoon in South Africa. Could we exchange vows via candlelight with the village chief?
In the end, the entire village showed up. I learned 7 songs and dances. I wore the wedding ensemble of the Chief’s wife. Ed had to barter with the Chief for my hand in marriage. Another village elder loaned him some cows so he could complete the transaction. The ceremony and celebration lasted 14 hours.
That was 17 years, 3 kids, 2 dogs, one guinea pig ago… Happy Anniversary .maa

I’ve taken my MBA to task through teaching business and concept classes and it’s been amazing. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share my knowledge and to be in the academic environment.
The students are brilliant and teaching is a joy.
