Travel Nerd

I have come to realize in the last five years their were several myths that prevented me from traveling the world.

The object of this page is to give you ideas in bite size pieces on how to travel more with less money.

Vienna at Christmas. In the center of what once was the Hapsburg Empire I find myself waltzing. Dancing in the rain like a child.

Why Travel Bucket Lists Aren’t All They’re Cracked Up to Be 12/26/2022

Something to think about….

Why Travel Bucket Lists Aren’t All They’re Cracked Up to Be “Once-in-a-lifetime” vacations. “Bucket list” trips. Both are often celebrated as major rewards. In reality, they can mean putting undue pressure on a destination—and on ourselves.

My thoughts as a traveler……
Very accessible from the airport to the city (20 min ride) currently $12.35 CAD each way.
Very walkable but once you arrive at Union Staton. There is also a Tourist information inside. All you have to do is let them know what you want to see or how you want to get around downtown. There are also tons of bicycles outside the station to rent.
This time I chose to go to Chinatown for lunch. The restaurants are authentic and the food is yummy. After eating I took a Lyft to the Harbour to catch a ferry ride to Center Island. The larger ferry is about $10.60 CAD for a RT. The smaller ones run about $12.35 one way. But are faster. From there you can see the Toronto skyline and commune with nature. The wildlife and natural surroundings are beautiful and on this day the weather was as well.
The people are very friendly and exchanged smiles and hellos freely.
Just a side note. This is A very 420 friendly city. It’s everywhere. So if that’s not your thing you may be annoyed by just how prevalent it is.
All in all I would return and seek out more places to enjoy.

Tourists Walking Around in This Italian Town Shirtless or in a Swimsuit Could Be Fined — What to Know 07/23/2022

Thought I would share this Interesting update to some tourist areas in Italy. Many tourist areas are toying with these types of ideas in order to clean up their image and cater to the locals who live there. The extra revenue wouldn’t hurt in helping keep areas kept up and clean. Let’s hope they use it properly for their benefit. I have no problem with this personally.

I want to start by saying I love the idea of passing on my knowledge to others. I’m a teacher at heart and a KOOK (keeper of odd knowledge). But with that I don’t have all the answers either. I am hoping to light a fire within you to travel to places far and step out of your comfort zone. Whether with a friend or by yourself. I don’t have a set format for this page. I will post ideas as they come up in my head and on my travels. I hope as you all go along you will add your experiences and tips as well. I’m excited to see where this and YOU go! Thank you for joining me. Happy Travels.
