✨Our Service Culture Spotlight highlights John Mark Edwards!✨

Calling Johnstown, Pennsylvania his hometown, Mr. Edwards serves as the Director of Religious Education for the Religious Support Office.

He is responsible for religious education for all faith groups within USAG Rheinland-Pfalz, including Sunday schools, Catholic Religious Education, Vacation Bible School, Jewish and Islamic Religious Education and special events.

Mr. Edwards is a retired Chief Master Sergeant and has been with USAG Rheinland-Pfalz for five years and has been working as a civil servant for 30 years. He has also been on active duty service for 30 years.

“I love working with people. Vacation Bible School (VBS) is the best part of my job. It takes 50 volunteers to make VBS work. To me, it is a picture of heaven, when you see so many different kinds of people get involved for the same purpose. It's fulfilling to sit back and see it all come together.”

“There are so many things that happen in a Military Police Officer’s career that I could not just pin point it to one thing. Number one, would be the way that my children look at me when I am geared up for work, they call me “Superman.” Number two, would be that I get to work with senior leaders on a daily basis and build solid professional relationships with everyone in our community. I am able to help influence a change for a better and safer community. Number three, if I were to tell people outside of my profession the stories of the things I have been through or seen, they would probably think I am making it up. Every Law Enforcement Officer has these experiences, but we are the ones who realize how privileged we were to have witnessed these events, lived to tell the stories and helped people when they needed it the most.”
