Merry Christmas from Texas Ranger, Frank Hamer 🎄🎅🏼

Frank Hamer was a Texas Ranger who was born in 1884 and grew up in San Saba County, Texas. He worked as a cowboy and later joined the Rangers in 1906, patrolling the border in south Texas.

In the 1920s, he helped bring order to oil boom towns and exposed the Texas Bankers' Association's "reward ring," which offered rewards for the death of bank robbers, leading to the framing and killing of small-time criminals and innocent transients.

Hamer retired from the Rangers in 1932 but retained a Special Ranger commission. In 1934, he was hired as a special investigator to track down the gangsters Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, and he was successful in ambushing and killing them in Louisiana.

Hamer retired in 1949 and lived in Austin until his death in 1955, when he was buried in Austin's Memorial Park.
