Texas Teachers for Strong Public Schools

Texas' budget for the next biennium is in the hands of the ten members of the budget conference committee. Tell these legislators to say NO to discriminatory voucher schemes and YES to more funding for EVERY Texas student! https://secure.ngpvan.com/ObfJ2AgHCEa2RDk1RivTTA2

Two amendments to the House budget bill would provide for a meaningful teacher salary increase and prohibit public funds from going to private schools. Help us tell your TX Rep to support these amendments! https://secure.ngpvan.com/qZt5QMnp_U6skXzyZgWLRw2 #txed #txlege

NEA Sec/Treasurer Noel Candelaria and TSTA President Ovidia Molina fighting for our students and our educators! Enough is enough! Not one more!

Vouchers would siphon much-needed funding away from public schools — the heart of rural communities. Vouchers, or Education Savings Accounts, redistribute taxpayer dollars from hard-working rural Texans. Vouchers hurt all Texas public schools, but especially the rural schools that would be left behind. This session, tell your elected officials to reject any type of voucher and to support the heartbeat of our rural communities… our public schools. https://secure.ngpvan.com/yXn4U90TGUi7eLo395nxRw2

When we say we’re #HereForTheKids, we mean we’re here to support public education & the incredible educators & staff who support children in so many ways. Celebrate Public Schools Week by supporting your local public and community schools: https://www.nea.org/communityschools #PSW23

It's time to cast our ballots and make our voices heard! TSTA members voted in record numbers in 2018 and got us the “education session.” Let’s do that again and show elected leaders that educators VOTE. The future of public education is on the ballot and 5.5 million Texas students are counting on us to be their voice at the polls. Let us vote in such overwhelming numbers that we show everyone how much we love our children, our educators, and our public schools. · Early voting began on Monday, October 24 and continues through Friday, November 4. · Educator Voting Day is Thursday, October 27th! · Election Day is Tuesday, November 8th! You can find TSTA’s endorsed candidates here: https://tsta.org/.../2022/09/2022endorsedCandidates.pdf Encourage members to vote on Educator Voting Day, Thursday, October 27, if they have not already voted. Vote early and encourage friends, co-workers, and family to do the same.

Just like TeamTSTA member Lakeisha, we can come together with our school district to make sure they’re prioritizing spending the school rescue funds our district received on the areas that help our students succeed. https://www.nea.org/advocating-for-change/action-center/take-action/prioritize-where-rescue-funds-should-go?ms=affsharesocial

"We are asking our legislators to make sure that they don't forget about these 21 lives that are lost, that could've been avoided if the laws were stricter and we didn't have automatic weapons out in our streets." TSTA President Ovidia Molina

Happy Teacher Appreciation Day from TSTA.
