Wanted to share this post I sent to the email list about the web site.

The Let It Roll site features a complete index of episodes, sorted by season, guest, subject, genre and era.

We’ve got direct links to the Spotify versions of all the episodes posted so you can find what you’re looking for and listen right away.

If you haven't already, you should sign up for the email newsletter via the site.

Going forward I’m going to be swapping out the episodes on Spotify for 35 minute previews and the full episodes and transcripts will be here behind the paywall.

This is going to take a while but I’m committed to chipping away at it until it’s done.

I’m planning on doing some live chats Substack as soon as I can figure out how.

I’m also working on a new, scripted mini-series called The Orpheus Tax.

The more generously listeners like you support Let It Roll via the Substack, the more time I’ll be able to put into the new project.

Please be generous with your feedback by emailing [email protected] or commenting here on Facebook or on the Substack (link in comments).

Please like and share this post so more of our listeners get to see it.

Thanks,
Nate Wilcox,

RIP Duane Eddy, the King of Twang. My first guitar hero. When I first got on Facebook I noticed that Duane Eddy didn’t have a page, and I felt like it was simply wrong to not have a tribute to him on here. So I started the Duane Eddy "The King Of Twang" page which has been going strong for over a decade, where you can find many posts that Murray and I made over the years celebrating his legacy.
I still want to buy a Gretsch someday, and that’s largely because of Eddy. His influence is still strong.
Twang on, Duane.

The banjo is a star of Beyoncé's new album. Turns out it has African roots In "Texas Hold 'Em," the singer is accompanied by a banjo. It's often thought of as a quintessential Americana instrument. But the history of the banjo tells a different story.

We were immensely saddened to see this farewell episode of Let It Roll Podcast pop up into our feed this evening.

Nate and producer Steph had an absolutely chaotic 2023 so they're understandably hanging things up for the moment due to commitments elsewhere but in the closing episode, they leave the door open for returning somewhere down the road, reflecting on goals not yet reached, and insights gained across the lengthy journey to document Nate's growing understanding of the arc of popular music history.

To say that Let It Roll was influential on TCBCast is like saying water's wet; Gurdip & I were both listening to it and learning the whole way through. We were thrilled to have Nate say yes to coming on TCBCast way back in our second year, and were extremely humbled to be invited on Let It Roll to discuss The Searcher, Last Train to Memphis, Careless Love and discuss Elvis's career overall.

I proudly nicked our mutual friend Garrett Cash for last year's Elvis & Country Music series, which was very much inspired and influenced by the numerous genre miniseries Nate and his guest hosts tackled over the years (including Garrett on their "Holy Roll" gospel miniseries).

We'll still always recommend Let It Roll's back catalogue highly and without hesitation to anyone who likes TCBCast and has that same sort of boundless curiosity for how the music world that Elvis was a part of was and is all interconnected and part of a broader evolution of a beautiful form of human expression.

We wish Nate and Steph all the best and look forward to hopefully hearing from them again!

Please, if you haven't done so in the past, we STRONGLY recommend checking out Let It Roll at https://letitrollpodcast.substack.com/ or your podcast platform of choice.
