Eight years ago, Rachel left our clinic feeling like she could conquer the world. Her back pain was gone, her hips felt strong, and she was ready to take on anything. But life got busy, and she dropped out of any chiropractic care, convinced she was fine.

Here's something you might not know about me. It changed my life and is a big reason why I'm committed to paying it forward. My personal battle against severe back pain nearly shattered my life. Diagnosed with scoliosis as a child, I never imagined the agony that awaited me in my early 20s while navigating the fast-paced life of New York City.

The pain was so intense that I had to abandon all my beloved sports and exercise routines. Even the simple joy of walking my little dog became an unbearable challenge.

Desperation led me to seek help from numerous orthopedic and neurological specialists between Washington DC and New York. Despite their expertise, none could offer a solution that restored my ability to live without constant pain. I felt trapped in a body that was betraying me, and my spirit was sinking under the weight of hopelessness.

Then, a beacon of hope appeared.

I decided to visit a chiropractor and start a regular yoga practice. Miraculously, these two practices combined transformed my life. The relentless pain that had crippled me disappeared, and I was able to embrace my favorite sports once more. I felt reborn, as if I had been given a second chance at life.

Fueled by this incredible transformation, I was determined to uncover why chiropractic care combined with yoga had worked such wonders for me.

This passion led me to chiropractic school, where I dedicated myself to understanding the intricate balance of the spine and body. My mission was clear: I wanted to help others experience the same miraculous recovery I had.

In 2010, I founded Miami Sports Chiropractic & Yoga Center with one goal in mind: to provide a sanctuary for those suffering from spine pain, just as I had. I’m just wondering when it became acceptable to carry a 10 pound weight out in front of your body ALL day.
That 10-12lbs-ish weight is your ARM.

Let’s pretend for a second that you didn’t have a job and didn’t work in front of a computer and have your arms slightly suspended out in front of you like a zombie all day on the keyboard and the mouse.

Your arms would hang down beside you for a good portion of the day. Gravity would feel more evenly distributed through the vertical orientation of your bod.

Imagine holding even a 5 lbs weight suspended out in front of your for 5 minutes… your neck and shoulder on that side would gnaw and burn 🔥

TIP: when setting up your mouse and keyboard drop your arms all the way down to the side, hinge the elbow by your rib cage, and bring the mouse and the keyboard CLOSER to your body. Don’t reach all day. It hurts!

No zombie arm, no neck pain 🧟‍♀️

I’m a BIG believer in BTN workouts… BETTER THAN NOTHING.
It’s a never ending adjustment to calibrate the pace of life and prioritizing my values… one of which is good on-going health 🙌.
Early workouts cured my ‘no time to exercise’ excuses as a mama of 2 little ones.

Benefits of pre-dawn workouts:
1. Less time-based excuses… because I got ‘em!! 😃
2. Natural hormone pump/energy boost for hours after.
3. Muscle mass to be a mama, chiropractor, and multi-sport athlete.
4. Something magical about getting the hardest part of my day done before the sun is up.

Fact: It’s hard getting up early 2-3x week.
Fact: It’s also hard to lose physical conditioning to do the things I love, have erratic low energy, and develop joint pain.

1. **Continuity of Care:** PCPs provide ongoing care and build a long-term relationship with their patients. They get to know your medical history, lifestyle, and personal preferences, allowing for more personalized and effective healthcare management. They will make their best suggestions based on their training (pharmacy 💊 ) and YOU as the patient of course have the option to investigate other drug-free treatment options.🫶🏼

2. **Preventive Care:** Primary care doctors emphasize preventive check-ups & screenings. By identifying and addressing health issues early through labs, imaging and other diagnostic technology YOU will have a better chance of using holistic treatments 🩵 to prevent the development of serious conditions and promote overall wellness.

3. **Coordination of Care:** Primary care doctors coordinate and manage your healthcare needs, including referrals to specialists, follow-ups after hospitalizations 🚨, and medication management. They serve as the central point of contact ***UNLIKE ***the urgent care or hospital who will declare you alive and send you out the door. 💩

Don’t be afraid of developing a relationship with a primary care physician. It’s always helpful to have a general medical doctor as well that takes insurance, can take a bird’s eye view of your health, and has a file open in case you have emergency. 🚨

Arthritis, particularly osteoarthritis, involves the degeneration of joint cartilage, which can't be fully reversed. 💩
