Today is Jessica Taylor’s 41st Birthday.
Jessica has been gone now longer than she was with us.
When I first began to learn about Jessica I was met with a narrative that could not possibly be true. No one was standing up for Jessica publicly and people were readily accepting the stories that were out there and the absence of an advocate allowed people who knew nothing about Jessica or her family to accept some blatantly untrue rumors as fact.
Then someone appeared and began fighting for Jessica. This is her cousin, Jasmine.
Jasmine began sharing with the world WHO Jessica truly is: a dearly loved and terribly missed 20 year old girl. A young woman with a fierce sense of self who had an infectious laugh, who loved her family and in turn was loved intensely by her Family.
Jessica electrified any space she entered, with her vibrant eyes and captivating smile and boundless energy, one could quickly feel an instant adoration.
We can only imagine the impact on this world Jessica would certainly have made if she was still with us physically. But Jessica has and continues to impact our world. I have seen the power and energy of Jessica guiding her cousin, driving her towards fighting hard for her Justice and on June 6th, 2024, Jessica and Jasmine achieved that..and there will be more.
Jessica Taylor is everything that her Family says she is and then some. Jessica will forever be a beacon in our hearts and our loyalty to her will never fade.
Jessica, wherever your energy is throughout this Universe, I see you within the eyes of Jasmine and your Family.
I feel your heart beating strong and incessantly as the fight for Justice continues.
I am forever celebrating your Life.

On Thursday, June 6th 2024, suspected Long Island Serial Killer, Rex A. Heuermann was charged with 2 additional 2nd degree murder charges for the deaths of Jessica Taylor in 2003, and Sandra Costilla in 1993. He is now charged with 1st degree murder in the deaths of Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman and Amber Lynn Costello, and 2nd degree murder in the death of Maureen Brainard Barnes.

Two new charges against Rex Heuermann.

Today marks 13 years since the discovery of Melissa Barthelemy along Ocean Parkway.
Melissa, 24, a talented hair stylist with very attainable goals of opening her own salon, came from Buffalo, New York in pursuit of those dreams.
Melissa was last seen on 7/10/2009. Her cell phone was tracked to cell towers all along the south shore. She would be the first of Ocean Parkway victims to be found.
This week will be especially hard for the families, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Where you’re able to support them in any way is humbly appreciated.

If this Bill becomes a law this will require police agencies to summit unidentified person into the database within 48 hours and require missing person to be entered into NamUs within 30 days.

Yesterday a bill “Help Find the Missing Act (Billy’s law)”that has been waiting for vote to pass into law since 2011 was reintroduced Senator Murphy in CT. This Bill will require law enforcement to enter all missing and unidentified person in to NamUs, help fund NamUs and bridge the gap between NCIC database and NamUs. This is a vital bill to become a law. I was wondering if you can share the page created and see if we can get some volunteers to write letter to their state reps and Senators about why this bill needs to become a law, it will give law enforcement the tools they need to investigate.

Billy’s Law is federal legislation tackling the thorny issue of adult missing persons, and overhauls how police officers are trained to respond to these cases by utilizing computerized data banks that connect the missing, to data banks containing information about the unidentified dead. The system is called NamUs, an underutilized tool in law enforcement.

According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons (NamUS) database, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, more than 600,000 people go missing annually and approximately 4,400 unidentified bodies are recovered each year. Most of the 600,000 return home, or are found, but at any snap shot in time there are 100,000 Americans reported missing. Shockingly, after decades of accumulation, there are 40,000 unidentified dead scattered around the country in morgues and medical examiners offices, or buried as a John or Jane Doe in some remote dusty town in Montana or Texas or Alaska.

Today marks 12 years since Amber Lynn Costello left her home in West Babylon, and became, what is thought to be the last official victim of LISK.
Amber is loved, and Amber is missed. Amber is cared about in this group, and her memory means something to the people who continue to seek knowledge and justice for Amber and for all of the innocent young people who were taken from their loved ones all too soon.
Publicly, we have no shame in memorializing Amber and all of the others, privately, we interrogate the reality handed to us, we question everything, we seek understanding through respect and relationship building.
