Today's visit with James brought him immense joy. He had recently been feeling lonely, but when he heard he had a visitor this afternoon, the smile that lit up his face was indescribable. Grateful to have been able to bring him a moment of happiness, and remind him that he is not alone.
This morning we stood beside a family in court, offering support during their son's hearing. They considered our presence truly meaningful and deeply appreciated.
Aaron* and Dave*, two patients at Springfield Hospital Center, felt uplifted from our visit this afternoon. It's heartwarming to know that our time with them had a positive impact and brought some brightness to their lives.

Exciting news to share! ๐ Yesterday, one of our long-time Jewish patients, who has been on a learning journey with us for years, has made the decision to fully embrace the kosher diet. ๐ It's a wonderful milestone in their spiritual and dietary path, and we are thrilled to support them every step of the way. ๐๐ฅ
It was an honor to join Maryland Governor Wes Moore as he signed the long-awaited Correctional Ombudsman Bill into law on Thursday.
The Correctional Ombudsman Bill establishes an independent oversight body to protect the rights and well-being of individuals within the correctional system. It aims to provide a platform for addressing grievances, ensuring transparency, and promoting accountability in correctional facilities.
Through the collaborative efforts of numerous organizations, the Correctional Ombudsman Bill has become a reality, representing a significant milestone in ensuring accountability and safeguarding the rights of individuals within the correctional system. We are privileged to have been a part of this important endeavor.

Awesome 'Shiur & Shmooze' at CTP Hospital
On Purim, Jewish Incarcerated Family Services mobilized a team of volunteers to spread a sense of joy and community to Jews in confinement all across Maryland.
Splitting into four teams, the 8 volunteers departed Baltimore early Purim morning to embark on their remarkable journey. Their stops included state prisons, county detention centers, psychiatric hospitals, juvenile detention centers, and rehab centers, with back-to-back Megillah readings from morning all the way up until sunset.
Laura**, in Maryland Correctional Institute for Women, whose journey back to Judaism strengthens with each passing day, shared her appreciation: โThank you for sending great people to us for Purim!!โ
This video offers a glimpse 'behind the walls,' capturing poignant moments of these vital activities, to ensure those far from home are not forgotten.
