My yummy valentine ❤️

Today would have been 16 years with our sweet Penny Lane. 8 months ago on May 1st Penny took her last breath in our arms. The day I met her at the spca changed my life and the lives of my family forever. She greeted me with a big doggy smile from behind her kennel bars. I asked to walk her to see if she might be a good fit. There was a bounce in her step, a curiosity in the perk of her ears, and adoration in her eyes. I walked her to a tennis court to see if she could play fetch. I tossed the ball, she chased but seemed to be confused with what to do next. So as I approached she did what she would do countless times in our lives together- she smiled, locked eyes with me, and rolled over in the sweetest little beg for a scratch. I knew in that moment, she was MY dog. We hiked many hikes, we snuggled all the good snuggles, we chased squirrels, and dug for crabs. When Marlee came she became the watchful big sis who didn’t really care for all the noise, but was never far from Marlee’s side. I thought I was going to loose Penny to cancer, but she survived. I thought she was going to die during two other emergency surgeries, but our strong courageous fighter survived. The strangest thing she ever brought home was her doggy brother moose…that’s a whole other story. She didn’t care much for his noise either, but he helped keep her young with games of tug of war. Being with Penny was being in the presence of pure love. I don’t wonder if she had a soul, because in the eyes of such a beloved friend, I could see the divine. We miss you every day Penny. Love you forever.

This week would have been 40 weeks pregnant with little Lucas, but instead today we celebrate 3 weeks with our guy. Summer came and went so fast. I had planned to share a few of my favorite summer bump photos in the final days of pregnancy, but those days ended up being the first days with a newborn. Here’s looking back at a few favorite moments with a bump before the babe.

This gorgeous weather has me thinking about and looking back to Rachel and Alec’s wedding celebration last May. It was the kind of day that love and good vibes saturated the air. So did the the humility and sounds of cicadas which all become part of those good times summer memories that can’t be topped. Cheers Rachel and Alec to all your fun May memories!

This wonderful couple celebrated their one year wedding anniversary last weekend and I would be remiss if I didn’t at least wish them a happy belated one year married! Courtney and Ben, you are an absolutely stunning couple and I can’t get over your stunning wedding day! 🥂
