Happy Arbor Day! To celebrate, I am planting 75+ trees on my property with the help of my grandchildren. Planting more trees is important in pulling carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. In fact, a mature tree can exchange 48 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere in one year.
I am encouraged that Governor Tony Evers remains committed to planting trees in Wisconsin. This week, he announced that he is increasing his goal of planting 75 million trees by the end of 2030 to 100 million trees by the end of 2030. Since 2021, 32 million trees have been planted.
