From our entire department would like to express our sincere condolences to the entire Seekonk Police Department, family and friends, as they mourn the tragic loss of Kourtny DeForitis. ππ€ππ€
It is with the deepest and most profound sadness that Chief David Enos announces the untimely passing of Patrolwoman Kourtny DeForitis. During the early morning hours of September 9, 2023, Ptlw. DeForitis was involved in an off-duty fatal motor vehicle crash, as a passenger on a motorcycle in Somerset, MA. Ptlw. DeForitis served with the Seekonk Police Department for just under 3 years, having attended the Cape Cod Municipal Police Academy in 2021. Since that time, she has been assigned to the Patrol Division and was outstanding in her various roles as a community outreach officer. Kourtny had a particular fondness for the youth of Seekonk and could be found playfully interacting with them in the schools and at community events, usually with a bright smile on her face and a contagious laugh. The men and women of the Seekonk Police Department offer their sincere condolences to Ptlw. DeForitisβ family and friends, as we also mourn the loss of one of our own. Rest in peace badge 3334, weβll take the watch from here.
We will never forget. Keep all who perished in this horrible tragedy in your thoughts and prayers today.

Expect a Long Power Outage in West Barnstable: Winds are not expected to subside until tomorrow (Thursday). This will make it unlikely that many of the downed power lines will be repaired today or tonight. It would be best to plan and prepare for no electricity into Friday. Winds tonight gusting 35 to 45 MPH. High Wind Warning still in effect.
If you have to be out traveling on the road ways tonight please take it slow and use extra caution.
Sunday October 10th was World Mental Health Day but due to it being on a weekend we celebrated it on campus today! There was a very nice turn out with a ribbon hanging ceremony and a reading of proclamation that College Police participated in.
