Tree climbers are responsible for completing tasks and projects directed to them by the designated foreman or production manager. Tree climbers manage a team of tree professionals that trim, prune and remove trees; complete all required ground, climbing, and aerial lift duties in support of specific job assignments; clean, maintain, sharpen and lubricate tools and equipment; operate shredding and chipping equipment, and feed limbs and brush into the machines; and complete other tasks as required.

In order to ensure assigned their jobs are completed tree climbers are also responsible for leading and assisting their assigned crew members in completing assigned tasks by enforcing PPE and safety guidelines, prioritizing work flow, assigning and monitoring work tasks, ensuring quality standards are met, operating and maintaining equipment, completing work orders, ensuring accurate time tracking, ensuring crew safety, training employees and providing performance feedback, and other activities that may be temporarily or permanently assigned.

The ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in varying outdoor weather conditions is required. Due to the seasonal nature of work crew members may be required to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, evenings, and during emergency events.

Minimum Requirements:

Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred) and reliable transportation
Clean driving record for at least 3 years
Ability to operate a vehicle with a manual transmission
Experience driving a truck with trailer
Minimum 1 year verifiable experience as a tree climber
Ability to work weekends and outside normal business hours as requested
Ability to lift and carry 50lbs or more
Willingness to work outside in all kinds of weather
Proficient at operating and maintaining chainsaws, pole saws, trimmers, blowers and other equipment
Proficient at operating a bucket truck or aerial lift
Pass a pre-employment drug test and physical exam
Ability to communicate clearly with customers
Ability to work independently

Groundsman are responsible for completing tasks directed to them by the assigned tree climber, foreman, or production manager. Groundsman assist the tree climber with tasks related to trimming, pruning, and removing trees; use and follow PPE and safety guidelines; learn techniques and proper use of tools from tree climber or senior groundsman; collect and pile branches/debris to be chipped or removed; safely operate shredding and chipping equipment, chainsaws, trimmers, blowers, stump grinders, and skid steers/loaders; clean, maintain, sharpen and lubricate tools and equipment; ensure work sites are kept clean and free of hazards; report issues or safety hazards to tree climber or foreman.
