Song for Imbolc

The lambs are a-coming, the ewes are awaiting,
They sing lullabies as they dance in the snow,
But spring will soon be here, the earth it is waking,
The wheel it is turning toward life force regrown.

Come Bridie, the maiden, come Bridie, the mother, come Bridie, the crone
At your time of the year,
We honor your knowings, please bless all our sowings, and bless all our birthings
And young ones so dear.

A true merry meeting, a tiny corn dolly, and soon she will bless all the
Seeds that we sow,
The rain will fall gently like blessings from heaven,
Our brideog will infuse new life from below.

Come Bridie …

Now open your windows and open your doorways
And let in the scent of the earth and the rain,
Dear Bridie, come join us, your bed is awaiting,
Please bless our household with springtime again.

Come Bridie …

And now light her pathway with three candles burning,
One for the maiden, the mother, the crone,
The lambs in the fields wait for new life’s returning,
The wheel turns but once and the seeds will be sown.

Come Bridie…

Welcome to the Glade of the Midcoast, a gathering of people interested in the ancient customs of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. All are welcome. We provide celebrations of the four major celebrations -- the Winter Solstice (Yule), the Spring Equinox (Ostara), the Summer Solstice (Litha), and the Autumn Equinox (Mabon), as well as the four quarter days -- Imbolc, on the first of February, Beltane, on the first of May, Lammas, on the first of August, and Samhain, on the 31st of October. In addition, we serve to help you celebrate your own life milestones -- naming and blessing ceremonies for babies, children and new congregants, celebrations of the coming of age, celebrations of marriage (legal in Maine and all other states), support through illness and preparation for life's end, and funerals and celebrations of life. Our celebrations are outdoors when possible, and in the homes of congregants when the weather does not permit an outdoor celebration. All celebrations will take place outdoors until the current pandemic passes.
