He is a native of Donaldsonville, a Distinguished Alumni from Ascension Catholic for the Diocese of Baton Rouge, as well as a member of Donaldsonville Elks lodge. He has 2 children, a son, LCpl R. Bennett (19) serving in the USMC, and a daughter, Georgia (16). He is married 25 years to his beautiful wife Natalie.
