Dr. Welch will soon be taking on an Associate. He and his staff would like to introduce to you- Dr. Leah Larson!

Dr. Larson has over 13 years of dental experience. She graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska in 2010 and has completed a two-year residency and fellowship at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Larson is an American Dental Association member, an American Academy Cosmetic Dentistry member and is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. She has recently completed a year-long course in Implant Dentistry at LSU and an intense implant course at the Alabama Implant Education. In 2019, she was named In Register’s Top Dentists! She loves spending time with her husband Stephen Hightower of City Group Hospitality and enjoys playing tennis in her spare time.

Holiday season is fast approaching. Are you prepared to protect your smile from the sugar-laden sweets that lay ahead? You can enjoy the season without sabotaging your oral health.

To keep cavities at bay from Halloween to New Year’s Day and beyond, try to do these things daily:

-Sip beverages through a straw to help minimize acid contact with your teeth

-Brush and floss after every meal, especially after enjoying rich desserts

-Bump up your water intake to help rebalance your mouth’s PH and minimize oral bacteria growth

-Limit snacking to allow your saliva to neutralize acid and work on restoring enamel

-Chew sugar-free gum to satisfy your sweet tooth and increase saliva production

We are excited to announce we are back open starting May 4! According to the Department of Health, dentists may start seeing patients again including routine dental exams and checkups! We are taking all precautions according to the CDC, and look forward to seeing the smiles of our patients again!

Due to the Coronavirus we are unable to provide dental cleanings or elective/cosmetic dentistry at this time. Dr. Welch and Highland Dental Center is committed to providing the highest quality of dental care in an environment that is safe for our patients, staff and community at large. We are staying on top of the latest recommendations of the Center for Disease Control, World Health Organization and state and local health organizations.

With this in mind, effective Wednesday March 18th, we will suspend all routine clinic activities. This shut down will tentatively last until April 16, 2020.
