*****Patient Spotlight***** Local chef, Tai Singleton, is back at Sage Outpatient for a second round of therapy. Tai has a goal to return to work and to cook at the capacity and efficiency that she did prior to her brain injury. In this video, Tai is seen cooking funnel cakes for our staff. While cooking, she is working on several things such as, grip strength, reaching, safety awareness, standing tolerance, attention, and balance. Tai states that all of these things play a very important role in her occupation, daily tasks, and her overall life. Tai reports, “For me, there are physical and mental challenges. My physical challenge is to use my right arm and manage my arm pain. My mental challenge is to stay on task and not get distracted or confused. My ultimate goal is to be able to return to full-time work and to be able to fully perform my job as a chef.” Keep up the good work, Tai. We know you can do it! #SageWorks

Congratulations to Mr. Bob Kay who graduated from Sage Outpatient! He returned to driving, playing golf, and all the things he loves to do. He was truly an inspiration to us all. Way to go, Bob! #SageWorks

*****Employee of the Month*****
*****Employee of the Month***** Give a round of applause for Courtney David, PT, DPT, who is our employee of the month! Courtney always brings a smile to everyone’s face and creates such an uplifting atmosphere in our clinic. Her coworkers say, "Courtney makes her patients feel welcomed each time they see her! Courtney is patient and supportive. She is a team player and strives to give her patients the best care possible. She takes the time to educate others to improve carryover of PT into other sessions. Sage would not be the same without her!" When Courtney was asked why she loves Sage Outpatient, Courtney replied, "That’s easy! I get to work with the absolute best team I could ever ask for! My coworkers are some of the most intelligent, compassionate, caring, creative, motivating, and hard-working individuals I have ever met! I am so grateful to be able to work alongside the best of the best, who inspire me daily to not only be the best therapist I can be, but the best person I can be as well. Likewise, I am constantly inspired by the hard work and perseverance that our patients put in daily. They are all rockstars! Helping each patient reach their own personal goals is truly the most rewarding experience and feeling as a therapist. Sage 1000% Works, and I am just so thankful to be a part of this incredible family."😊 Courtney, we love your enthusiasm for your job. You have an unstoppable spirit. We appreciate your postivity and the way you inspire your patients. From your time as a student at Sage Outpatient, we have seen you grow into an incredible physical therapist. We are grateful for your phenomenal focus over the past 3 years on our team. Your energy truly warms the people around you. Awesome job! #SageWorks

Occupational therapist, Alexis Dardar, created a piece of adaptive equipment to help stabilize a brush so that one of her patients could paint her nails again! This video shows the patient using her affected hand to keep the equipment steady while moving her right hand to paint her nails. The patient was excited about her accomplishment and said it made her feel “happy.” Making our patients feel good about their achievements is all in a day’s work here at Sage Outpatient! #SageWorks #OccupationalTherapy #FunctionalTherapy

Since our words matter, Shad Duplessis, LCSW-BACS, provides us with some words that we should avoid thinking about and verbalizing when communicating. #SageWorks

Communication is a two-way process. For a person with communication difficulties, their communication partner is particularly important for a successful communicative interaction. Take a look at this video by one of our speech pathologists, Amanda, explaining helpful communication partner strategies. #SageWorks #Aphasia #SpeechTherapy #Communication #CommunicationSkills

Our Art Show is off to a great start! We were absolutely stunned by all of the amazing entries we received. Our patients are in the process of judging all of the pieces of art by talent of work, overall theme, and creativity. Be on the lookout to see who our top winners are. #SageWorks
