Celebrating all the amazing women in our community and how much we all do with and for each other. I never thought I could own a business, provide jobs for so many women, and still be active in my 4 kids lives and I love showing them what a strong, independent mom/women is so they can set their goals high too. I have only grown stronger through all my relationships with all the other women I have met and am constantly reminded there is no limit if we work together.

As someone who has tried every “diet” out there, I realize I was just looking for a quick fix. But when I talked to .simonsdnp the other day I reflected about how I feel the same exact way about my body at 50 pounds lighter or where I am now.
I don’t know how to fix that, but I want to. It starts with taking healthy steps and no shortcuts - healing from within! It starts with looking in the mirror and seeing me without the filters I have painfully absorbed over the years. One step at a time.

18 years ago my dad lost the fight against lung cancer. I remember somehow I just knew when the plane was landing I missed the opportunity to say goodbye. What would I have said anyway.
This is my dad Godofredo Dizon. He and my mom sacrificed their life in the Philippines so that their 4 children could have better opportunities here.
Because he was a CPA, he had to start over when he came to the US. I remember him working at a bagel shop, temp jobs… life was different here than when my dad would come home from work in the Philippines with his suit and briefcase.
From owning our home to being on government assistance living in a 2 bedroom apartment and going to public school for the first time having never worn non uniform clothes to school.
This was me at 18 years old, not yet understanding the privilege I truly had: of choice. Not being self aware of the sacrifice my parents made for us.
If he were here now I would want to know his story, I’d want to hear about his why, how he made it through those first days when he first came to the US, did he regret his decision, did he stay up at night wondering how he would be able to support his family, how did he still make time for us…
18 years without my dad.
Kind of a long time.
The sad truth is that I probably wouldn’t even appreciate him as much if he were still around. But I wish now. I wish he met my partner Aaron. I wish he sang karaoke at our family parties. I wish he would come to my studio so he could see. I wish I could know him as I am now, more humbled by life, more able to see him and understand him.
I know this is a tough time for some people who have lost loved ones during this time also. I see you, and I hope you find moments of joy and rediscover some memories. ❤️❤️❤️
