We wrapped up our last visit to the lovely Red Tail Ridge Winery in the Finger Lakes. They are doing some major expansion projects that are going to be exquisite! Such a fun group of people and owners Nancy and Micheal were so thorough in giving us a tour through the new expansion project and through the vineyards. We loved learning about their philosophy and getting to know their wine style better. An extra bonus was meeting their precious dogs while walking through the vines and taking in the gorgeous view of the lake. One of our favorite wines was their Sekt - (German word for Sparkling wine) this extra brut traditional method sparkling made from Riesling was light, crisp, with hints of Granny Smith apple, key lime with nice minerality. As they say, “life is better with bubbles”! Thanks to Nancy & Michael for hosting @uncorkedne on this momentous trip.
“Happy” White blend Made from grapes in conversion to Organic Agriculture La Cave du Vie Armand is one of the smallest wine cellars in Alsace. It is located at the most Southern part of Alsace and marks the entrance to the Alsace wine route. The cave produces about 1.5 million bottles of wine a year from all of the most well know Alsatian grape varieties. The Cave du Vieil Armand was established to give an impetus to the wines of Southern Alsace. Today there are 73 members who are wine growers between Soultz, and Wuenheim. Between them they share 150ha of vineyards, stretching from Cernay and Guebwiller to the foot of the Hartmannswillerkopf mountain.
