I felt it was necessary to write about Matrescence. The transition into motherhood. In this article, I’m sharing what changes to expect and the importance of self-compassion during this journey.
What Every New Mom Has In Common. It's Called Matrescence. - Wellness & Co. | Therapeutic and Educational Services based in Bel Air, MD Once a woman starts trying to conceive, the journey to motherhood begins. Matrescence refers to the process of becoming a mother. It parallels another one of life’s transitions, adolescence. Yes! The journey is Matrescence! Its the developmental phase of becoming a mother. It takes time to learn, grow, and adapt to the parental role.
Often anger and frustration are viewed as "bad" emotions, unacceptable and detrimental.
But, we all experience frustration and anger from time to time. Even frustration towards our children. We are all human and what matters most is the repair after losing your cool.
Anger is a powerful emotion. And if we can get curious, it may reveal unmet needs.
I love this article on how to repair and what to say to your child after you yell. Check it out below!
7 Things to Say to Your Kids After You Yell What to say after your lose your temper with your kids. Yelling happens, but science shows that it is the repair that matters most in relationships.
Remember the saying "you can't pour from an empty cup"?
We must fill our cup to pour into our loved ones, families, and children.
What's one loving thing you could do for yourself right now?
Like Brené Brown says, "Perfection is an unattainable goal."
Our children need to see our emotions, our imperfections, our mistakes, and our successes. Show them what it's like to be human...show them what it's like to be you, flaws & all.
To all the women doing the inner work. May we continue to heal, grow, and become whole.
Not only for our children but for ourselves too.
