My point here is, when you get a compliment, say thank you and leave it at that, even if your knee-jerk reaction is to focus on what’s not good enough.
I appreciate friends for reminding me of this. I am actually strong. I work hard at it. Even though my future strength is what I’m striving for, my today strength is a perfect place to be. 👏

I’ve spent a lot of time over the years talking back to my inner voice, turning “I wish I could just...” into “It will be amazing when...”

I have a vivid memory of sitting around the fire in my back yard with my best friend over 10 years ago, talking about how badly I wanted to remodel our home to match our life. My husband is in construction and creates the most stunningly beautiful spaces for clients, and he was coming home day after day to a house that was falling apart around us. We talked about it for so long and never took the steps to actually begin because we constantly spoke in limiting language. “We can’t do it right now.” “This area is too expensive for us.” “Once we get a little further ahead.” “Once the kids are a little older.” “Once the interest rates fall.” Any excuse in the book, we found and we used. And we did it without even realizing it.

I finally had a moment one evening where I turned to Sean and said, “we either move or we remodel, and we begin NOW.” And once I said it out loud, we began taking steps in the direction of our dreams.

Today we are in the middle of our remodel, and since we began until today so many things have happened that have made this the very worst possible time to build, but we’re doing it no matter what. Is it taking over a year longer than it should have? Yes. Are we spending more money than we would have if we’d done it 5 years ago? Yes, A LOT MORE. Is this something we can control and will we let it stop us? No. So day after day we wake up, and we keep going because it will be amazing when it’s done.

One day in the future I will be sitting around a different fire in our backyard with my best friend and we will be reflecting on that night so long ago and celebrating the journey it took to get there.

Are there things in your life where you tend to use limiting words and phrases? Try flipping it. Instead of “I wish I could...” say, “it will be amazing when...”

There’s only one thing on my mind lately and it’s to get on the road!

I go all winter craving desert heat, sun on my shoulders, warm night air, the smell of different surroundings and time away from the day-to-day stuffff. 𓆈

In a few weeks I’ll have a much needed break where I can wake up with the sun, take in new scenery, be present ─ truly present ─ with my family and celebrate this wonderful life. ♡

Staying healthy comes in many forms. One of the most recent rituals I adopted for my health is immediately covering my hands in hand sanitizer when I leave a store. Well, I found out pretty quickly the alcohol and other added ingredients were NOT working for me. 😒
