Do nothing but breathe for 15 seconds. Breathe in for 5, hold for 5, & breathe out for 5. Take 15 seconds for yourself to calm your mind. Now, go crush your day! 👏🏻 . . . #breatheinbreatheout #breathwork #momentsofpeace #dailyrefresher #bellevuetherapy #therapysession

If you experience panic attacks, you may have panic disorder. The most effective treatment for panic disorder is cognitive behavioral therapy. If you find yourself having an episode, recognize that it's a panic attack and try deep breathing. Controlling your breathing allows you to avoid hyperventilating, which can make other symptoms — and the panic attack itself — worse. Focus on taking deep breaths in and out through your mouth, feeling the air slowly fill your chest and belly and then slowly leave them again. Breathe in for a count of four, hold for a second, and then breathe out for a count of four. Once it passes, reach out to a trained mental health professional to begin treatment.

We believe the most effective way to treat Generalized Anxiety Disorder is through therapy with a trained professional. However, when you have GAD, it’s important to have coping tools when anxiety creeps up in day-to-day life. Consider trying grounding exercises. Journaling, deep breathing and meditation are three common grounding exercises, but there are plenty more ways to get grounded. Ask your PFBH counselor for more ideas.

A reminder...
You are worthy. You have all you need within you. THERE IS HOPE.

Simone Biles didn’t win a gold medal this time, but she is still golden in our book. We love that she respects her own limits and knows when it’s time to prioritize her own needs over the desires of others for her to succeed.
