Restoration House Blog
beautiful home, whole life. I'm Kennesha, owner of Restoration House, a lifestyle business and blog.
I love "breathing life" back into vintage and antique furniture pieces and helping you turn your vision into reality through design and styling and a little bit of DIY. Please visit my blog at www.restorationhouseinteriors.blogspot.com and follow along if you'd like!
Revelations and affirmations.
In prose.
Still exploring growth, aging, time, relationships and self. Quite a worthy venture.
Did you need this?
Follow the natural rhythms of your own life.
No need to succumb to the unnecessary pressure of changing or giving birth to something prematurely.
Take the pressure off.
Like the clothes you remove after a long, hard day…
Take the pressure off.
Like the deep, heavy sigh of relief when you breathe when the pain you anticipated turns into joy…
Take the pressure off.
No need
No need
No need to succumb to the pressure of giving birth to something prematurely
This part of the year tends to inherently call for a lot of reflection.
The season of life I’m in, even more…
One thing I can agree with myself on (this just means I’ve found resolution and peace with this truth) is that my peace and joy are more a non-negotiable than ever.
This is a truth that I will proclaim and practice even more as I move into 2024.
I’m not one for resolutions.
I tend to follow the ebbs and flows and rhythms of life-following my gut and intuition where it leads me. It has yet to steer me wrong.
This next year, I’m leaning more into moments that produce the one you see here to give back to the girl you see in the second image. She deserves every ounce of goodness and joy and richness this side of heaven has.
In case you forgot, you do, too.
I don’t know, y’all.
I’m just trying to sort out how this was TWO Christmas’s ago.
What is TIME? Anyone else feeling this way?
liberation
to the people
is the cry
of the world

A different point of view…
Speaking of different views, when shopping the site, be sure to explore ‘kitchen and dining’ , ‘decor’ and other areas of the shop that are sometimes easily missed but chock full of goodies.
Thanks to all of you who continue to support the shop and make this work so much more meaningful. It’s an honor to provide you with curated goods that help tell the story of you and your home.
Shop more goodies via the link in profile.
I know I’ve been tucked away in what seems like a ‘hidden space of nothingness’ for months around here but it’s not been without fruit.
Then, I drop a shop sale out of what seems like nowhere on like I’ve been here all along. And the truth is, I have been.
I feel off here very intentionally in May without an announcement of my departure and remained “in” my stories until life called for me to take a break there as well.
And so, here I am. Living my dream. Really. But if I told you the road’s it’s taken me to get here, you probably wouldn’t believe it. Maybe I’ll write a book about it. 😉
I’m finally-after two and a half years of living hell-living in a space that feels like it fits right and while life is absolutely riddled with winters, I’m thankful that every winter has it’s spring.
Every winter has moments where live things show their faces to remind you that living is to be had even in the deadest of seasons. I’m proof. I’m living proof that dead things don’t always die-they just need a little time to come back to life.
That’s the indpiration behind the drop today as well. I hope you enjoy and remember that as you peruse and shop today.
I’m exploring new ways to show up in this space as we approach a new year. I’ll be taking it slow but Imm thankful that whenever I do show up-you do, too.

Just a visual reminder that the sun always comes after the rain. (Or, snow) Eventually. Seattle has been unseasonably cold for this time of year and I heard some of y’all got snow this week. 👀 whatever the weather, I hope you’re finding ways to rest, retreat and find joy this weekend, friends.
💀
Honestly, I thought I was the only one, too.
You?
(Only answer if you use washcloths AND soap in the shower 😂👀😆)
I also hate (hate?) when people eat until they’re stuffed and then say they have a “food baby”. Ion know…something just don’t sit right with me about it. It’s dumb and it makes me gag a little. 🙃🤢
This needed to live here, too.
(Although, we’ll see how many of you actually see it. 🤓)
But…just ICYMI, I’ve curated some of the most special pieces and they’re now available in the shop.
If you wanna be some of the first to hear when new items are live, be sure to check the link in my profile to subscribe to the newsletter.

A shop or my house?
We may never know.
Doing what I can until I get what I want.
A shop that feels like home?
Don’t mind if I do.
Two posts a day until Friday’s shop refresh?
Also don’t mind if I do.
Can👏🏽not👏🏽wait.
Who knew an antique wooden horse groomer could be so pretty?
And you already know what I think you should do with it in it’s retirement. 😉
Countdown to Friday.
Can’t get here quickly enough if you ask me.
I picked this case (swipe) up from a local antique shop few weeks ago and instantly fell in love.
Not only did it remind me of my granddaddy but I was so attracted to it’s form and signs of age.
I can still feel my papaw’s whiskers brush up against the side of my cheek when he kneels down to hug me and if I close my eyes long enough I can smell him, too.
A mix of old spice, that 1970’s station wagon that carried more than his hunting companions but years of blood, sweat and tears of building a meaningful life for his family. IDK why but when I saw this briefcase, the memories rushed in. I snagged it.
The leather is perfectly crackled and the metal buckle has seen better days but it still shines. That a kind of sermon, I think.
It’ll likely never see the likes of an office or hold documents again but I can’t unsee it as art and a pronounced statement piece on a gallery wall like this. I guess when I say “everything’s art” I mean it.
I love giving old things new life and I love passing that inspiration on to you even more.
p.s. this and many of the items pictured here will be up and ready to shop this week. set your reminder and stay tuned.
Livin in my head rent-free.
So much goodness to be found in this one tiny corner of a space from . 🤤
Back to one fine spring day last year and talking about something I’ve been thinking about in my stories today. I’m wondering about how you feel about it. Join me there? I put up a question box at the end to hear your thoughts but as always, you can hit me up in the DM’s.
Second one’s the story of my life.
Especially in ANY math class growing up. The math still don’t really math for me most of the time. Swipe for more chuckles and head over to my stories for . It one of my favorite days of the week here. Evidenced by the fact that my last post was 12 days ago. 😝Hally friends.
One thing I’m gon’ do?
Find a way to incorporate vintage and antique pieces into just about every single nook and cranny of my home.
This vintage Mexican pottery is sold but you can find many pieces in stories or hop over to the shop via the link in profile.
Sundays were made for relaxin…and shoppin. I actually can’t think of anything more relaxing. Okay, well maybe there are some but finding unique pieces that you love is pretty darn fun.

A fun announcement…
Restoration House is now on Chairish.
I wanted to be able to offer you ways to purchase larger items and provide a more seamless shipping process for pieces that can be a little more tricky to ship.
In the next couple of weeks, I’ll be adding more art and furniture there and I hope this provides you with yet another opportunity to find pieces you love for your home.
If you’re a designer, this is an especially easy way to acquire one of a kind finds for your clients and their homes. Of course, the shop is still available for that as well.
If you ARE a designer and aren’t familiar with my services, I am also happy to announce that one of my absolute favorite things to do is source and sometimes (depending on the project needs) provide home styling services for your projects. If this peaks your interest, you can email me or send a DM for more info.
Thanks for all the support thus far and I look forward to what this year will continue to bring!
Then, God made flowers.
A little shop update coming your way tomorrow. Be sure to sign up for the newsletter for first dibs.
