I love Sam S's new vocal and cello album! Beautiful singing and cello playing. I just discovered that she released it on January 1. Facebook doesn't always let you know about these things, so I had to look for when it was coming out. Check it out for some healing beauty for your 2024. ❤🎼🎻

Violinist.com Interview with Hilary Hahn: 'Eclipse' October 14, 2022, 12:09 PM · Did the sun really just go away, right in the middle of the day? That's what seems to happen during a solar eclipse. Ancient peoples thought it portended the end of the world, or the permanent blotting out of the sun. But no - the shadow passes, the light returns.
Enjoying and at the Bellingham Celtic Festival! Fun stuff! ❤️🎻

Always a great reminder! "Playing musical instruments is a way to encourage your own emotional expression, and it also has an element of socialization attached to it that can enhance your interactions with others.
Playing an instrument is also a great way to explore a number of different themes, such as communication, grief, frustration, and love. For instance, it’s possible to create a raging storm by playing the drums in tandem with a number of other percussion instruments.
There are all kinds of similar themes that can be explored musically when playing instruments either alone or in a group. The highs and lows of any individual situation can be experimented with, and a great deal of self-expression can be poured into the final result." Get out there and play everyone!

I'm loving the Google Doodle today! A violinist, composer, and activist for women and Indigenous peoples!
Zitkala-Ša chronicled an anthology of oral Dakota stories published as “Old Indian Legends” in 1901. The book was among the first works to bring traditional Indigenous American stories to a wider audience. In 1913, she wrote the text and songs for the first Indigenous American opera, The Sun Dance, based on one of the most sacred Sioux ceremonies. In addition to her creative achievements, Zitkala-Ša was a lifelong spokesperson for Indigenous and women’s rights.
Happy Birthday, Zitkala-Ša, and thank you for your efforts to protect and celebrate Indigenous culture for generations to come.

SUNRISE MUSIC SUGGESTION: Für Alina is a work for piano composed by the Estonian composer Arvo Part. It is considered an essential work of his tintinnabuli (Latin for "bell") style. This simple style was influenced by the composer's mystical experiences with chant music. Musically, Pärt's tintinnabular music is characterized by two types of voice, the first of which arpeggiates the tonic triad, and the second of which moves diatonically in stepwise motion. The works often have a slow and meditative tempo and a minimalist approach to both notation and performance. Enjoy!

My album is an inner journey of finding myself. My hope throughout this pandemic & the difficulties of lasting inequality/racism is that we can try to find each other. I cannot pretend to know what my friends of color have to go through, but I stand with them, want to understand & love them. Certainly, the most important thing we can do is listen and of course, make the real changes in ourselves to BE the change. My album was meant as a moment of solace and I hope all of you can listen to it on your favorite streaming service or free on this site as the reflection moment that it is. As much as I love streaming services (great for discovering new artists & nurturing eclectic tastes), they don't pay artists (approximately .003 cents per listen), so if you'd like to support artists directly, buying their music is the way to go. Today only, Bandcamp (where I sell my music directly to you) is waving their 10% cut to assist musicians during the pandemic, so if you're interested in buying it please consider so today! I wish you all moments of solace, peace, and BEing the change ❤️🙏 https://music.rebekahhoodsava.com/
