With 40 years of being involved in the legal system, Whitley R. “Whit” Graves has no intention of scaling back or reducing the services he provides to his clients and the public. The many aspects of his career with the Louisiana State Police, the Drug Enforcement
Administration Task Force, the Bossier-Webster District Attorney’s Office and as a private attorney, have given him the unique ability t
o view matters from every angle and perspective to achieve the ultimate results for his clients. With the experience of more than 100 jury trials and literally thousands of bench trials, Graves has earned a reputation with police officers, judges and other attorneys as being well prepared and able to sift through the innocuous and pinpoint the specific legal issues that need to be addressed. His legal experience does
not end at trial as he has presented more than 60 matters before the appellate courts resulting in many decisions, which have changed the manner in which both the government and our
courts conduct business. His willingness to pursue matters to a satisfactory conclusion has led him to be accepted to practice in all Louisiana courts, the Western District of Louisiana Federal District Court, the U.S. Graves was born in Shreveport and except for his time at the Louisiana State University Law Center and a few assignments while with the State Police and DEA Task Force, has lived and pursued his legal career in northwest Louisiana his entire life. He refers to “extremely deep roots” in this area tracing his ancestral
ties to Larkin Edwards, who first settled the Shreveport area, and others even back to the early 1700s when the area was Spanish
occupied and sparsely settled. The hard-working ethics Graves, his wife Robin, and legal secretary Tanya Puckett display in the office is also maintained in their family lives as Michael Graves, Garrett Jones and Makenzie Puckett are regarded as being respected and talented honor students at Southern Methodist University, Louisiana State University in Shreveport and Benton Elementary. Graves is a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Bossier City, the Louisiana State and Bossier Bars, Temple Lodge F&AM, The Scottish Rite where he is a Knight Commander in the Court of Honour, and the El Karubah Shrine where he serves as an ambassador and a master of ceremonies for the annual Shrine Circus.
