This Saturday, March 19, John W. Bate Softball will host the first ever “Champions” Softball Series in honor of Dr. Weathers. Opening ceremonies begin at 11:30 am followed by three matchups between Bate, Berea, and Garrard County Schools.

John W. Bate Softball would like to thank Webster Orthodontics for their contribution to help make this event possible. Also, thank you to Xtreme Designs for creating the tournament shirts and their donation. We would like to give a special shoutout to Braylon Emerson, one of Dr. Weather's former students, for designing the t-shirts. (T-shirts will be given to participating schools in the event). 💙🥎💙🥎

Bus will leave at 9:45, please be to the locker room no later than 9:30. We will have a light breakfast for you there.

Opening ceremony will begin at 11:30am.

1st game:
Bate vs Berea @ 12:00pm

2nd game:
Berea vs Garrard approx 1:30pm***

Admission is $3 for all adults and students (cash only). We will also have a concession stand. If you can let your parents know to park in the parking lot that is behind the school and tennis courts (they will see an outdoor basketball goal in the parking lot as well), that would be great and helpful 🙂 . We have another parking lot, but our admissions gate will not be located there

Where is it?
It’s in Cartersville, but the address is 128 Copper Creek Road.
You go towards Lees Famous Recipe and keep going. Turn left on 954 and follow that road to Copper Creek Road. Turn left on Copper Creek and the facility will be on your right.
It’s at a house, in their garage.

It’s a few miles that might seem like forever because it’s a curvy and windy road😊

I apologize for the ever changing schedule, but some of it is beyond my control. I do, however, make sure to keep you updated as quickly as I am.
This week, our schedule will be:
Monday inside/outside 3:30-5:30.

Tuesday on the field 3:30-5:30
PARENT MEETING and uniform handout at 5:30.
We will NOT hand out uniforms until a contract is signed by the athlete AND guardian

Wednesday 4:30-7:30 Batting cages on Cartersville Rd.

Thursday-To be determined-we will likely take this evening off.

Saturday-Bus will leave for Bates (Danville) at 9 am. Players will need money for lunch and I would encourage them to pack snacks for during the games. We will play at 11:00 and 12:30.

Tomorrow’s practice has been changed to a scrimmage with Foley Middle.
We will begin at 4:30 and it will be on Foley’s practice field. This will last until at least 6:00.
Parking is at Foley, but the field is just behind the daycare/Knights Pharmacy.
Please wear a black or Berea shirt, your ball pants and cleats!

International Women’s Day

I created this space because I want to inspire the next generation of softball athletes. Not only do I want to help these girls grow on the field but I also want to help them grow off the field. It’s more than just softball and I hope we all realize that.

Show up to whatever you’re doing and give it 100%. Work hard for what you want because it won’t just be handed to you.

And last but not least, don’t you dare take crap from anyone.

My social media is growing, which means the comments from guys who think they know everything and feel the need to mansplain my own sport to me is also growing. I sometimes find myself defending my teachings because I feel I need to explain to these men why I do what I do and then I quickly remember I would whoop any one of them on a field any day. Cocky? Nah. Confident? Yes. But that’s something I always try and preach to my girls - have confidence in all you do. You’ll get the naysayers but just remember to keep doin you and keep being the boss that you are 💥

Softball practice is cancelled for today, Monday, March 7th.
