Meet our new partner, .justice!🌟🌱
Aligned with our theme "Food for Thought" Planting Justice is a Bay Area nonprofit whose mission is to empower people impacted by mass incarceration and other social inequities with the skills and resources to cultivate food sovereignty, economic justice, and community healing.
They accomplish this through their 2-acre nursery and community garden in East Oakland, employing local residents (many from marginalized communities), providing reentry support and coordination for the formerly incarcerated, and offering over 1,500 varieties of produce and plants.
In addition, Planting Justice has a 4-acre Mother Farm / food forest in El Sobrante that features sustainable agriculture practices and a Food Sovereignty Youth Leadership Program that provides sustained educational programming that positively impacts over 7,000 people a year.
We are honored to partner with such an exceptional organization, and are thrilled to announce that 60% of this semester's profits will be donated to Planting Justice!
