Dr Z shares her derm (and mom!) approved tips for sun safety for kids! ☀️ 🧴 🌊

- For babies under 6 months, avoid sunscreen. Instead BYOS (bring your own shade!) with umbrellas, cabanas, and tents. If you’re at the beach, make sure to check regulations in your area.

- Sun protective clothing is great for all ages, especially babies. Rash guards and baby blankets are great options.

- Don’t forget to protect their scalps. Wide brimmed hats and scalp powder sunscreens are key.

- Your kid’s skin is your sensitive than yours. So look for fragrance free, mineral (zinc or titanium oxide based) sunscreen. Mom hack, kids love being independent. So get a zinc oxide sunscreen stick and “take turns” applying sunscreen to get them involved in the process.

- Opt for outdoor activities before 10AM or after 4PM when the sun’s rays are less intense when you can!
