Subject: Important Update: Rescheduling of Field Day and First Responders Day

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We wanted to inform you of some changes to our upcoming events due to anticipated weather conditions and logistical considerations.

Firstly, our Field Day, initially planned for this Thursday, May 9th, will be rescheduled to Tuesday, May 14th. This decision is made in light of the forecast predicting heavy rain from an incoming weather system. We want to ensure that our students can fully enjoy the activities without any weather-related disruptions.

Additionally, our highly anticipated First Responders Day, originally set for Tuesday, May 14th, will now be taking place on Tuesday, May 21st. This event offers students the invaluable opportunity to engage with and learn from various first responders, including fire truck and police cruiser demonstrations, among other engaging stations.

We apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause, but the safety and enjoyment of our students are our top priorities. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Such a fun day to celebrate our students with Reward Day for being a Reward School. After our ROAR Excellence Assembly classes rotated into stations. The activities included Robotics, Art, Leprechaun Bait, STEM games, St. Patrick’s Trivia, Relay Races, and movie time. We ended the day together with the ROAR Attendance Assembly.

What a great way to start spring break! NSE celebrated being a reward school and "Pawsitive" attendance week with door prizes. The students had a fun day with activities and the faculty was treated with a great lunch sponsored by Farmers Bank. Thanks to everyone who made this day a success. WE ARE THE TIGERS AND WE ROAR!!

We want to give a HUGE shout-out to Mr.Bond and his Science Guys! They came to help with the culminating activities for Mr. Popper's Penguins, our One-book- Blitz. All of the students made slime and "snow".

We had a record turnout last night at our Title I STEM Night. It was a fun night with our Science Demonstration Show featuring Mr. Bond STEM Guys, the Vanderbilt Planetarium, Student Art and Musical Instrument Display, and Robotics in the library.

Reward and A Distinction

24 Sumner County Schools Earn Reward School Status and Letter A Distinction

Gallatin, TN— Sumner County Schools is pleased to announce the schools that earned Reward School status and Letter A distinction for the 2022-23 school year. Ten schools earned Reward School status, and 14 schools earned the highest possible grade by the Tennessee Department of Education. (Among the 24 schools honored, some have achieved both designations.) Students in grades 3-11 are tested each year in core subject areas that include math, social studies, science, and English / Language Arts.

Reward Schools recognize schools in a comprehensive measure that includes achievement scores, growth scores, chronic absenteeism, and English Learner proficiency. At the high school level, the measure also includes graduation rates, and ready graduate preparation. Reward Schools are generally those that see high performance in achievement or growth for all students and designated student groups.

For letter distinction, grades are calculated in a comprehensive measure that includes student achievement scores, student academic growth, and growth of the highest need students. At the high school level, college and career readiness measure is also included.

"I am proud of the work we are doing in Sumner County to prepare our children for the next level. With 24 schools earning Reward School status and Letter A distinction for the 2022-2023 school year, this success is a testament to the dedication of our students, teachers, staff and parents who continually strive for excellence," Sumner County Schools Director, Dr. Scott Langford said. We are actively shaping an educational environment where our children are not just prepared for success but are equipped with the skills and resilience to thrive in their future."
