Degenerative Vitreous Syndrome
Primary opacities in the aging vitreous, commonly termed "floaters", have traditionally been considered as simply a nuisance, not justifying the risk of surgical removal. But extensive floaters constitute what we term as degenerative vitreous syndrome or DVS: the spontaneous occurrence in the aging vitreous of primary opacities that substantially interfere with activities of daily living.
