Congratulations to Ryan Pate, Clinic 8, who was presented with the October 2023 DAISY Award. His nomination read, in part, “Ryan cared for Martin, my son, nearly every time we came to the clinic, and when I saw him, I audibly sighed with relief knowing Martin was in the very best hands. The Children's of Alabama Pre-Thanksgiving Day Parade is one of our favorite traditions at the hospital! The parade helps patients and their families create special memories despite not being home to celebrate the holiday. Floats and balloons march through inpatient units, and patients view the parade right from the doorway of their rooms or tune in to the live broadcast from their beds.

We are thankful to everyone who made the parade possible, including staff, community partners, Jason Simpson and Walmart and Sam's Club locations throughout Alabama.

Congratulations to Taylor Jones, who was presented with the July 2023 DAISY Award! “Taylor approached my son with compassionate words and care. She understood when he couldn’t open his eyes to communicate with her and performed all of the duties of nursing efficiently and quietly...She came by to check on him after her 12-hour shift and visited again on the regular floor before discharge. She went above and beyond to make him as comfortable and calm as he could be and did the same for us as we faced the unfathomable.”

Congratulations to Kasie Hepp, who was presented with the September 2023 DAISY Award! “Kasie always has the BEST attitude whenever we see her. I’m so grateful for Kasie and her compassion, and I’m not sure where our family would be without her.”
