Ge***al Integrity for All Children
NOCIRC of Michigan, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, consumer rights advocacy group that educates people about circumcision and about the benefits of intact ge****ls. We inform parents, healthcare providers, and educators in Michigan about the impact of circumcision on children and about the proper care of normal ge****ls. We protect consumers from fraudulent medical claims. We actively promote the benefits of normal ge****ls and fo****in restoration.
I have been an activist working on this issue since 1994, when I became the Detroit field organizer for NOHARMM (“National Organization to Halt the Routine Mutilation of Males”), which in turn was started as a special project of NOCIRC (“National Organization of Circumcision Resource Centers”). Throughout its 24-year history, NOCIRC of Michigan operated autonomously from the California-based National Organization of Circumcision Resource Centers and in 2016 incorporated as a Michigan nonprofit corporation.
I have learned a lot over the years about the phenomenon of circumcision, as well as how to be an activist (“Intactivist”), how to run a nonprofit, recruit volunteers, educate the public, market our message, strategize, and fund-raise. This is the best, most-rewarding work that I can imagine doing!
NOCIRC of Michigan has prevented thousands of circumcisions through public education, advocacy, and activism. Each year, we staff information tables at over 20 public events and baby fairs as well as many professional conferences throughout Michigan. Generous donor support helped us to distribute thousands of free educational pamphlets to expectant parents and to healthcare providers all over Michigan.
