Dear Local Flower Friends,

After a very long winter, mostly spent caring for my new baby boy, Noah, l’m happy to finally have lots of flowers to harvest. It’s a challenge to find the time to make bouquets with a 4 month old, but I managed to make some beautiful wrapped bouquets and get them to our favorite cafe once again.

Today’s bouquets have about 25 stems each and include: Bearded Iris, bachelor’s buttons, catmint, lacy phacelia, flowering arugula and corn cockle.

Bearded Iris have more than one bud per stem, and when one flower on the stalk dies, another opens, so you may wish to break or cut off the wilted flower.

Where:
Pupfish Cafe ~ behind Spellbinder Books
124 S Main St, Bishop, CA 93514
When:
Friday - Sunday
from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Pricing:
$25 per wrapped bouquet
Prices include tax.
We take cash or Venmo

Cut Flower Care Tips
• Select a vase and wash it well, it should be clean enough to drink out of.
• Prepare the clean vase with cold water, adding flower food if desired.
• Trim the stems at an angle with very sharp scissors or a knife and place them in the vase.
• Display your flowers away from ripening fruit and sunny windows.
• Change the water every other day, or everyday if you wish.
• After 3-4 days, trim 1/2-1” off the stems, this helps the flowers continue to drink water.
• Remove spent blooms, leaving dead stems in your bouquet spreads bacteria in the water and makes the other stems spoil faster.

Dear Mammoth Lakes Farmers Market shoppers, I won’t be able to make it to the market this week. It takes me a whole day to harvest/prep/pack/drive/ and be at the market and I have to take that time to get my last succession of plants in for flowers in September/October. We are about 90 days out from the first hard frost (less if it comes early) and I also have to get some perennial seed planted that will bloom next year. Thank you for understanding. Hope to see you next week!
