state fair
🙏Devotion: Embracing Community and Gratitude at the Minnesota State Fair James 1:17 (ESV) “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” As we gather at the Minnesota State Fair, we find ourselves surrounded by the sights, sounds, and tastes that make this event so special. From the laughter of children enjoying rides to the aroma of fresh mini-donuts, the Fair is a celebration of community, creativity, and the abundance of God's creation. In this vibrant atmosphere, it's easy to see the hand of God at work. The State Fair is more than just an annual event; it is a reminder of the many blessings we often take for granted. The variety of foods, the hard work of farmers and artisans, and the joy of coming together with friends and family all point us back to the truth of James 1:17—that every good and perfect gift comes from God. As Lutherans, we believe in the importance of community and giving thanks for the everyday blessings we receive. The State Fair gives us an opportunity to do just that. It's a time to celebrate the gifts of the earth and the talents of those who work tirelessly to bring this experience to life. But it's also a time to pause, reflect, and give thanks to God for His unwavering love and provision. As you walk through the Fair, take a moment to thank God for each small joy you experience—whether it's a delicious bite to eat, a friendly conversation, or the beauty of a handcrafted item. Let this be a time of mindful gratitude, recognizing God's presence in every moment. P.S. Have one, or a few, for us! 🍪🥛

sing
The Gift of Music 🎼🎤 "Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth." — Psalm 96:1 Reflection: Music is a beautiful gift from God that speaks to our souls, lifting us in worship and uniting us as believers. Martin Luther called music one of God’s greatest treasures, seeing it as a powerful way to proclaim the Gospel. Whether we sing or listen, music helps us express our love for God, reminds us of His promises, and brings us closer to Him. Prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of music. May it always lead us to praise You and draw us nearer to Your heart. Use our songs to glorify You and to share Your love with others. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Devo
Embracing God's Creation: A Lutheran Devotion for Summer Scripture Reading: Psalm 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." Devotional: Summer is a season filled with warmth, beauty, and the splendor of God's creation. As the days grow longer and the world around us bursts into life, we are reminded of the magnificence of our Creator. The vibrant colors of blooming flowers, the gentle hum of bees, and the golden glow of the sun all point to the glory of God. In Psalm 19:1, David celebrates how the heavens and skies proclaim God's handiwork. This time of year offers us a unique opportunity to step outside, take a deep breath, and witness the wonders of God's creation. It’s a perfect time to pause and reflect on the ways God reveals Himself through nature. Martin Luther had a deep appreciation for the natural world. He believed that creation is a "book" that speaks of God’s majesty and power. In the beauty of summer, we can see God's creativity and His love for us reflected in the world He has made. Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for the beauty of summer and the way it reveals Your glory. Help us to see Your hand in all of creation and to draw closer to You during this season. May we use this time to rest, reflect, and renew our spirits. Guide us in serving others and sharing Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen. As you enjoy the warmth and beauty of summer, remember that every sunset, every flower, and every gentle breeze is a reminder of God’s love and creativity. Embrace this season as a time to connect with God, appreciate His creation, and spread His love to those around you.

🥳Congratulations to Bennett Lindman for All-Metro First Team Boys Player of the Year as the Lacrosse goalie for Bloomington Jefferson! The Jaguars permitted just 3.8 goals this season, 🤯 an average slightly ahead of state tournament team Benilde-St. Margaret’s.
