Honoring our past, forever forging forward.

is the perfect time for us to reflect on just how far we've come. Women like Betty Friedan are the reason for that. Friedan was an icon in the women's rights movement and became a household name with her book The Feminine Mystique in 1963. Her writing explored the idea of women finding personal fulfillment outside of their traditional roles, creating a new standard for female empowerment. She co-founded the National Organization for Women (NOW) in 1966 and advocated for an increased role for women in the political arena. Friedan was a pioneer of feminism and women's rights. She exceeded expectations. She dared to be more. So let's cheers to her - and every woman, today and every day.

“Empowerment of and investment in girls are key to breaking the cycle of discrimination and violence and in promoting and protecting the full and effective enjoyment of their human rights”

-United Nations Resolution 66/170

In 2011, as the result of youth advocacy around the world, the United Nations declared October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child. Its mission is “to help galvanize worldwide enthusiasm for goals to better girls’ lives, providing an opportunity for them to show leadership and reach their full potential.” It’s a day when activist groups come together under the same goal to highlight, discuss, and take action to advance rights and opportunities for girls everywhere.

October 11 is not just a day; it’s a movement.
A worldwide revolution.

We want ourselves, and girls everywhere, to be seen as equals, in the eyes of others and in our own eyes.
