Yesterday afternoon, the department was activated for a rescue approximately a mile down a trail in the Connetquot State Park. Multiple units along with Community Ambulance were on scene quickly. Our members utilized our UTV along with Community Ambulance’s UTV to try and locate the victim in the dark.
Our members located the patient on the side of a trail who was injured and unable to move after falling off a horse. Our members assisted community ambulance with patient care and removing them from the woods as quickly and safely as possible.

And we are off! Listen for our sirens, 1 crew is beginning on the east end of town and the second is starting on the northwest.
Rescues come in all sizes and can happen at at any time. For instance last night we were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Ocean Ave involving 2 vehicles and a utility pole. Once all vehicle occupants were evaluated and transported to medical facilities the vehicle recovery began. This one was a bit different as one vehicle made its way onto a residents lawn and with all the rain lately and the weight of the tow truck it needed some help as it sank a bit into the grass. The crew from Engine 15 was up for the challenge of this daring rescue. Thanks to @ostermann23 for capturing the moment.
