A Cooper’s hawk found a roosting great horned owl at the nature center today. The hawk proceeded to announce its displeasure at the presence of the owl in its territory. The owl seemed thoroughly unimpressed. Both species are regularly seen and heard in our community.
Plan on a visit to MK Nature Center this Friday or Saturday for our annual bird seed sale fundraiser. If you have kids, consider coming between 11am-2pm on Saturday for a fun kids craft and live bird presentations. Seed to feed the birds and presents for everyone on your list will be there!
Play is an important part of learning for youngsters of any species and deer fawns are no exception. The twins were certainly enjoying their game of ”chase me” first thing this morning. They would do a few laps, stop briefly before taking off again. What a fun way to start the morning!
Over the years, we have not had many rabbits at the MK Nature Center. I think that is about to change.
