On Saturday, March 23, twenty members of the Polar Bear Community volunteered at the Greater Boston Food Bank. The group helped sort 7,795 lbs of food, which makes 6,171 meals possible!

Government and Nonprofit Networking Meetup 03/08/2019

Over 40 alumni gathered at Democracy Brewing in Boston to network with folks in, or interested in, the government and nonprofit sector. Sydney Asbury '03, Claire Cooper '08, and Charlie Ticotsky '07 hosted the event.

Bowdoin in Boston Annual Holiday Party 12/07/2017

On Tuesday, December 5, more than 175 Boston-area alumni and parents celebrated the holiday season. The event took place on the top floor of 60 State Street. Attendees took in splendid views of Boston Harbor while enjoying drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and conversation with new and old friends. Sarah Begin Cameron ’05 warmly introduced Joe Adu ’07 who delivered welcome remarks to the crowd.

Frozen Fenway 01/17/2017

The Bowdoin College and Connecticut College women’s ice hockey teams battled at Fenway Park January 12, 2017, for the first-ever NESCAC women’s hockey game to be played at Boston’s Fenway Park.

Common Good Day 2016 10/11/2016

In conjunction with the many volunteer projects that took place on and around campus during the 18th Annual Common Good Day on September 17, more than 100 alumni, parents, and friends volunteered across the country.

Boston volunteers spent the day at either the Greater Boston Food Bank or Pine Street Inn.

Tech Alumni and Students “Meetup” in Cambridge

On Thursday, July 21, the Bowdoin Club of Boston held a “Tech Meetup” in Cambridge. Alumni and students connected with other Polar Bears interested in technology and start-ups.

There was an inspiring speaker program featuring Sean Marsh ’95, cofounder/general partner, PJC; Laura Harrison (DeVincentis) ’02, manager, Engineering, Riverbed Technology; Courtney Camps ’08, director of customer success, EverTrue; Katie Boyce ’11, project manager, Eze Software Group; and Rori Cremer ’11, field engineer, and Nathan Merritt ’11, software engineer, both of Tamr. Topics discussed included women in tech, the path from Bowdoin to the tech industry, day-to-day life in the tech world, and challenges in the financial tech sector.

The event was organized and hosted by Andy Palmer ’88, Sean Marsh ’95, Steve Gogolak ’05, and Katie Boyce ’11. PJC and Tamr sponsored the event.

Alumni Bid David Ortiz Adieu at “Bowdoin Night at Fenway”

On Friday, July 8, Bowdoin Polar Bears and their families enjoyed the annual outing to historic Fenway Park. Fans of all ages were able to see David Ortiz, in his final season, launch a homerun in the fourth inning. The group cheered the Sox on to a 6-5 victory against the rival Rays. Guests took in the game from the right field roof deck with a bird’s-eye view of the diamond and feasted on Fenway franks, cracker jacks, and other ballpark treats.

Boston Welcomes Clayton S. Rose 12/08/2015

Nearly 400 Boston-area alumni and parents welcomed President Clayton Rose and Julianne Rose to Bowdoin on Thursday, December 3, 2015. The event was held on the top floor of 60 State Street in Boston. Attendees took in breathtaking views of Boston Harbor while enjoying cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and conversation with new and old friends.

Board member Sydney Asbury ’03, who also served on the Presidential Search Committee, gave a warm introduction, which was followed by remarks by President Rose.

Project Details: Bowdoin volunteers will partner with Gaining Ground, a non-profit organic farm in Concord, Massachusetts. Gaining Ground grows vegetables and fruit with the help of hundreds of community volunteers and donates all of this fresh food to area meal programs and food pantries.
