process papers
process papers by Reflex Letterpress is our way of turning production offcuts into handmade paper
Greetings, Papermaking Party People! Thought I’d jump in with a quick update to the process papers experience. We’ve decided that limiting people to a big chunk (two dozen) of a specific paper is too granular for our small-batch outfit, so we’re going to a sheetwise format in the shop. Mix and match, it’s all good, once the batches are gone, they’re gone. We will probably have specific favorites and papers that are easy to make (due to large amounts of raw material), but there will also be specials and Interesting Experiments.
Free Priority Mail shipping as usual, but there is a small picking fee to cover the time in assembling your bespoke custom order. Packed with care in only the best free-range boxes! Head over to the website and get some before Santa’s sleigh takes off!
Quick and gentle reminder to everyone that we’re getting close to the time when Santa’s sleigh will no longer be accepting packages for delivery, so if you’re thinking about that one awesome print, packet of handmade paper, or letterpressed gift item, plan to act soon!

Hello delicious looking turkey. Thank you for making my day happy. I hope you had a good turkey life full of bugs, other turkeys, and outdoor living.
Harumph harumph harumph harumph!
New paper or if the dryer!
Ooooh... Ahhhhhh...
Nice color-corrected pic of >serendipity one
Not color-corrected by any stretch, but here's a pic of Serendipity One, fresh from the dryer. About 170gsm. Up in the store soon, with a properly shot picture.
Papermill time! I'd always been intending to basically grab whatever scraps were hanging around and pull something off the cuff, but never got around to it -- until now! I got about 100 sheets out of this batch, they're drying now.
Maybe I'll call it the Serendipity Series, maybe I'll call it the 700 Series (or the 700 Club? 😜🤣😎) -- but the shtick is to take 700 grams of random scrap and turn it into handmade sheets. I'd like to do it at least monthly... maybe as a subscription service? If that concept sounds like something just up your alley, let me know in the comments or a DM.
Stay tuned for the reveal tomorrow!
>celestine skylight< is up in the shop! Have four different pics to show the variable speckle.
It’s not exactly the true color, but it’ll do for a quick ’n’ dirty shot of the dried sheets. Introducing >celestine skylight
There was a snafu with the Astronomical Calendars this year -- curse you pesky typo! -- so the bonus for you is that we're going to make not one, not two, but *four* different tints of >celestine< for your enjoyment.
Stacks of proto-pulp pictured.
How cool is this? One of my clients managed to get some process papers stock to print on his laser printer by attaching it to a sheet of letter sized paper. Awesomesauce!
Finally figured out a workable paper stack organization: on a narrow above the crap -- I mean, craft table and below the boxes of commercial paper. 👍
Baad-ee-yah!
Today >super bad< was likened to a cake with melted jimmies in it, or the milk left after eating a big old bowl of Trix. I can't say I disagree.
Gotta love that kind of testimonial. Linktree in the bio!
Managed to get a quick WordPress site up on the domain with ElegantThemes Divi running this afternoon. Not a lot of content yet, but it looks better than the raw html splash page I had up. Also: Linktree in bio!
Decided to actually pony up for an official domain name, so new business cards in a rainbow of handmade stocks with processhandmadepapers.com. 👍
And may I present >iolanthemid smoke< blend, with a similar value. It's definitely purple, but more red than I intended. This is because I thought it would be cool to put 40g of Colorplan Citrine in a blender and add it to the pulp, to get some fun yellow flecks. Well, the blender did its job too well, and while there are a few flecks visible, the yellow pulp basically just tinted the whole batch to a more red purple. But that's quite alright, I think.
Up in the Reflex shop!
Today's recipe is looking pretty dark, but so was my second (ever) round of pulp. I called it "Basic Borscht" but when it dried i had to rename it to "Initial Blush".
The working title for this is "Iolanthe". I have reason to believe that this might turn a bit lysergic when it dries.
Hmmmm....
And the latest bespoke paper sheet has been pulled from the dryer! Please welcome >super bad< to the lineup. Its creation involved Colorplan China White, Rhodamine, Metallic Gold, Day-Glo Arc Yellow, James Brown, and poor project management. The 5x7 sheets have a rich texture and flecks of bright colors. Using it will surely make you the Godfather of Correspondence.
Business cards printed at on various handmade sheets.
Random 4-up 5x7 paper pull for everyone.
