U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced a final rule to expand premium processing, which will allow employers and individuals to pay a higher fee in exchange for quicker processing times in certain immigration categories. USCIS also announced a temporary final rule on employment authorization renewals and targets to reduce backlogs and processing times. Employers, attorneys and foreign nationals with long waits welcomed expanded premium processing but hope the time horizons for implementing the measures will be quicker than those announced.

Great News!!!
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court of the United States dismissed a Trump-era rule known as "public charge" which makes it difficult for immigrants to obtain legal status if they use public benefits.
This is a huge win for immigrants and another sign that the Biden administration is working hard to rescind many of the unfair immigration rules set in place by the previous presidency.

An important message from AG Maura Healey regarding identification for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Happy almost Inauguration Day! Watching the news unfold the past couple of weeks has been exhausting to say the least. However, the Biden-Harris administration is ready to hit the ground running on Day 1, especially with immigration!
I for one am thrilled to finally see the Muslim travel ban come to an end. There are also talks of extending the DACA program for an additional four years, while providing a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients. This would be amazing progress, and I am so excited to see how it all unfolds.
"Domingo Garcia, president of the League of United Latin American Citizens, said Biden’s team told attendees of the meeting the bill would give 11 million undocumented immigrants a pathway for citizenship, with an eight-year wait as a permanent resident. Biden also plans an executive order instituting a “four-year extension” of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program."

The incoming Biden-Harris Administration has so many plans to undo the restrictive immigration policies put into place by the Trump Administration. 2021 will no doubt bring about some much needed change, change we have been waiting 4 years for!
