Equity in Pregnancy
May is Preeclampsia Awareness Month. Maternal hypertension puts patients at greater risk of developing preeclampsia during or after pregnancy, and past research tells us that preeclampsia is the number one driver of racial disparities in pregnancy outcomes. At BMC, our OB/GYN department and Health Equity Accelerator have and continue to implement interventions that empower our pregnant patients, including our remote blood pressure monitoring program.
