Hey y’all, TLDR version of this - FREE QUESO this week (October 22 - Monday, October 28!)! That’s right free!!! You do need to buy something…a marg, a burrito, a couple of tacos - we’re not just handing it out. Why you might ask? Well… I was at a dinner party Saturday night and the hosts were making Mexican food from their favorite restaurant in the city they recently moved from. Great, I LOVE ALL MEXICAN FOOD and pretty much eat it every day. I also love when people cook for me. However, when I arrived they went on a several minute tangent explaining to me how amazing this restaurant is and how if they were to open a restaurant, this is the ONLY way to run a restaurant. It was starting to feel uncomfortable and other guests were kinda shrugging their shoulders at me awkwardly. The showcase item seemed to be the queso blanco. I do love me some queso, bring it on. As it was served they went on to tell me that THIS is the BEST queso and that they like (insert another local Mexican restaurant’s name here) pretty good, but that they really don’t like Pica’s queso. “it’s too chunky”. As Steve Martin might exclaim, “well, excuuuuuuuse me!” I think our queso is pretty good. Actually, I think it’s really good. It has been through some iterations (yes, it had a chunky phase). But I think this version, topped with our roasted tomato salsa, is quite good. So, returning to the why…you could say SPITE, or you could say I just want people to try our queso.
