Final stretch of this journey. Back to the books and 6” of research papers to review in preparation for my CSSD national board exam—the only advanced practice qualification in the USA for actual sports dietitians. This exam marks the culmination of years of hard work, study, practice, and research. I love learning and being challenged more than just about anything. This journey has been worth every sleepless night and blurry-eyed review of the data and research. I love what I do!!!

It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, I dive in head first! Have you ever come across a product that was so incredible, practical, functional, and solved a huge problem that you said to yourself, HELL YES!!!!? This product grabbed my attention so completely that I couldn't get on board fast enough. Every one of us goes thru periods in our lives when our nutrition isn’t ideal (there’s no such thing, BTW) or we’re not as active or training as much as we’d like. It’s OKAY. You will be okay. Reach out, talk to people, ask for support, call me for professional, expert advice and help. I love what I do. I’m here to help 💜 🗣️ 💛 💪🏼 💚
If the voice inside your head is telling you something isn’t okay, or you’re not happy, or you deserve better, the single greatest gift you can give yourself is to believe it. Believe that you are worthy. Believe that your voice is as important than all the other voices you have been listening to for all these years. Believe that are worthy of being listened to. Believe that you are going to one day be okay…better than okay.
For me, it started with telling one person my truth. That lead to one phone call, which lead to more phone calls, and more vulnerability and more meaningful connections.
These connections became my village and lifeline for the past six months—the HARDEST six months of my life. And I got thought it because of my village.
I ain’t gonna lie. A year-and-a-half ago, my village felt more like ghost town. I felt alone and without much support. But then I plucked up the courage to tell I one person, and over the months, my ghost town grew, and my support network grew, and over time, I grew a village. This is how i could leave.
So make that phone call. Tell a friend your story. Read a self-help book. Listen to a podcast. But take that first small step.

All week I’ve been watching Serena Williams at the US Open. Her career both on the court and off has been nothing short of extraordinary. Last night I watched her dig and fight for every single shot, even when she was down 5 sets to 1. I kept thinking to myself, what an amazing skill it is to keep fighting and never give up, even when the odds are against you. This 800-meter race from the 1976 Olympics is another example of digging deep.
I wonder if this fighting spirit is a gift you’re born with, or is it learned? Can we develop this as we mature, or is it inherited through a lifetime of healthy self-esteem, love, support, and self-confidence? Any thoughts?
Understanding your sweat losses (and what's in your sweat) is underappreciated by athletes (and even non-athletes). Often times, your "energy bonk" has little to do with carbs or fueling. Rather, it’s a hydration and/or electrolyte issue.
