Denise Leavitt

Denise is a true native to Bradenton! Denise attended Bayshore High School and after graduating became an Insurance Agent for State Farm and then an Insurance Manager Nationwide. Denise is extremely compassionate and loves helping others. Before joining Brown and Sons she worked for a Home Health Agency assisting seniors! Denise enjoys spending time with her friends going to local restaurants, relaxing on our beautiful beaches, exploring our ever-changing county and loves listening to great music with her loved ones. Denise joined Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory in February of 2023 and we feel LUCKY to have her as an employee!

Hunter West, LFD

Hunter West was born and raised in Bradenton, Florida. Hunter graduated from Manatee High School in 2002. Hunter attended the University of South Florida where he played soccer for 4 years. In 2007 Hunter was drafted by The Toronto Football Club and competed in the Major League Soccer Conference. Hunter went back to school and received his associate degree In Mortuary Science from St Petersburg College and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Hunter became a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in 2011. Hunter has been working Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory for over 15 years. Hunter enjoys spending time with his family and watching sports in his off time.

Ryan Brown, LFD

Ryan Brown is a Florida native. Ryan graduated from Manatee High School in 2010 and was an All-State Center on the 2009 State Runner up football team. Ryan graduated with his Mortuary Science degree from Gupton Jones in 2016. Ryan grew up at Brown and Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory and always knew he wanted to work in the family business. Ryan became a Funeral Director in 2016 and now enjoys bringing his son Jake to work with him.
Ryan married his wife, Stefanie, in 2016. They have two children, Jake and the newest Brown baby, Piper Honey Brown. Ryan enjoys fishing, coaching his son’s football and lacrosse teams and spending time with his family in his off time.

David E Brown, LFD

A Native Floridian David attended Bradenton Christian School until 8th grade and graduated from Manatee Hight School in 1990. David played on the 1989 State champion football player for Mantee High School as a right defensive tackle. After graduation from Manatee, David attended the University of Florida for 1 year before getting his under grad in Phycology and Sociology at Western Carolina University in the mountains in western N.C.; Wanting to go to the mortuary college where his dad went, David went to Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science graduating in March of 1994 with a Bachler’s in Mortuary Science. Joining the family business in 1994. Past president of his homeowner’s association 2005-2009, David enjoys doing things in the community. Member and 4th degree Knight as his catholic church, Assembly 1860 manatee county Florida. David also enjoys the local things, walking the Riverwalk in Downtown, eating at as many local restaurants as possible with our beautiful views and local fare. David always knew he was going to be a Funeral Director and truly enjoys helping the families he is privileged to serve.

Mark A. Stathers, LFD

Mark was born and raised just south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in Fayette City. Mark Attended Penn State University. He graduated with an associate degree in Funeral Home Management from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He owned and operated Stathers Funeral and Cremations Services, Inc and Pittsburgh Mortuary Air Services. Mark was a very well-known funeral director and trade embalmer in the Pittsburgh area. Mark moved to Southwest Florida in 2014. Mark takes the time to get to know each family and is known locally for his attention to detail with arrangements and his expertise for reconstruction and restorative art in the funeral industry. Mark began working with Brown and Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory in 2018. Mark is married to his wife Karen Cappelli Stathers and they enjoy spending time outside enjoying the beauty of Florida.
